NHL acting like 'illegal cartel (photoshoptime)

ok i think its photoshoptime!

---------------------------------------------------------------
http://sports.theglobeandmail.com/se...obeSports/home

The group backing Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie's bid for the Phoenix Coyotes unleashed its sharpest attack yet on the National Hockey League, alleging in a lawsuit that the league is operating like an “illegal cartel” by blocking Mr. Balsillie's effort to move the Coyotes to Hamilton.

then the NHL responds

"we dont pick fights but we end them"

"We fix the problems," a defiant commissioner said this week. "We don't run out on cities."

Unless those cities are in Canada, of course.

Everybody in Canada should band together and say, "We're not going to attend any more games until Bettman is fired, and someone who actually knows and cares about hockey is hired, and there is a team or two that moves north."

If Bettman thinks the future of the NHL lies in places where very few people give a rats' ass about hockey, he can live or die by it.

Bill Daly the second dumbest MOFO in the NHL brass, look at this juicy comment, didn't seem to bother these ****** when it was two Canadian cities.

"It doesn't take into consideration all the people and the money that has been spent on and devoted to the Coyotes franchise here in Glendale, both in the creation of a new building that was paid for largely by taxpayers and in the emotional and financial connection Coyotes fans have with their team.

**** you Daly and **** you Bettman you midget, ball licking, piece of ****.

ok rant over.

Man that's what I was just thinking! The Nhl had a lockout and it's about the fans do something to show the league that we, the fans, put money in all of there pockets!!

I don't care if Betmen does not like Balsillie.
Something is a miss in all this.
Balsille tried it their way twice and got the door slamed in his face.
Now he is trying it his way this time.
Bettmen is going to spend who's money fighting off Balsille? NHL money? lots of that is Canadian money! so that's Canadian money keeping a team in the wrong place and not back to Canada where it started in the first place. Winnipeg lost less money then Pheonix, did Winnipeg get millions from the NHL to stay in Winnipeg? NO and off they were to Pheonix. Now a rich Canadian boy is willing to buy out everyone at top dollar, out bid everyone, pay off ALL the creditor IN FULL, and bring a Canadian team back to CANADA and Bettmen says no??????
This smacks of PRO AMERICAN or ANTI-CANADIAN bias.
Perhaps the thin veil of cover ups and outright lies to CANADA is coming off the Bettmen machine

I'm so fed up of this crap, If only bettman would come to 1 game at the Bell Center while I was attending I'd love to hit him in the head with a Molson Ex!! My best memory of the 2007-2008 stanley cup playoffs was seeing Bettman get booed in Detroit when he came onto the ice at the end of the series... It was just priceless !

Didn't Detroit win the cup in Pitts...?

The boos are probably going to be the loudest at the draft.

Bettman has done a lot more good for the NHL than bad, not sure why NHL fans have a hate on for him.

In terms of having 30 teams and US expansion he was doing whgat owners wanted him to do, it's not like he had his own agenda.

Putting a team in Hamilton, makes little sense if you're going to end up destroying Buffalo.

Bettman is doing all he possibly can to keep teams out of Canada. If you asked him he'd say "oh? Who had the Canadian support funds while the USD was breaking your backs?" but that's only because there's no way he could have sneaked out Edmonton or Calgary out of Canada. Winnipeg and Quebec were easy pickings...

As much as I would like to see a team in Hamilton (or anywhere in Canada), it's like you said, you have to look at this like a franchise.

Assume a McDonald's franchise was not doing well and had to file for bankruptcy protection. You wouldn't be able to go buy the rights to that McDonald's restaurant without negotiating with McDonald's itself.

Even worse, without first negotiating with McDonald's and other franchise owners in the area, you definitely couldn't relocate it on another McDonald's restaurant's territory (Buffalo and Toronto), no matter how much you think there is untapped potential in that area.

As much as I do think that Bettman is trying to force hockey on the States and as much as I do believe a franchise would work in southern Ontario, Ballsillie went about this the wrong way.

Let's not lie to ourselves. Winnipeg was in the bottom of the league for attendance, only worse teams were Ottawa (pre-arena), Islanders (lol) and Whalers (we know what happened..).

The only city that deserved to keep their team was Quebec. Right now, im thinking the Islanders are the one that should move. They have been in the 12000 since 1989!
