I want Kasaev to take Saenko spot
he can do wonders against midget teams
nobody can outrun this dude

no need to waste Arshavin talent and hold him on the field full 90 minutes against Azerbaijan when you have Kasaev

You guys are talking about Alan Kasaev, the Kuban's midfielder?

I admit, I haven't seen any of their games.

Loko debuted 18 year-old D-man Alan Gatagov.

Another talented young Ossetian with the first name Alan.

at this point Glushakov should be soon taking a spot on NT.
Rostov had a second in a row tough southern derby this time with Nalchik, and barely escaped a loss with a goal by Petrovic on the 2nd extra minute. Mandrykin got hurt at practice and Roman Gerus had a less than stellar game allowing a goal on a very weak shot from about 15 meters between his legs (((

Tomorrow is a classic: CSKA - Zenit!!!

Yeah, player of the game was without a doubt Kuban's goaltender Alexei Botvin'ev. He made some great saves.

I was very impressed with Alan Kasaev and with Pavel Mamaev.

Russia has a lot of talented young midfielders waiting in the wings. Mamaev, Kasaev, Glushakov, Fayzulin, Ryazantsev and Kombarov brothers could all be candidates for NT soon.

I wish we had this kind of depth at other positions.

What do you guys think of an idea of putting Denisov at Left back and putting Zhirkov to left wing on the NT?

Denisov is very defensively responsible player and can make that move, while this would allow Zhirkov to do what he does best, which is cause chaos for opponents on the left side.

Guus announces the squad for the preparation for the Finland game.

http://football.kulichki.net/rusnews/news.htm?56176

Quote:

GK: I. Akinfeev, V. Gabulov, V. Malafeev
D: A. Berezutsky, V. Berezutsky, S. Ignashevich, Y. Zhirkov, D. Kolodin, R. Yanbaev
M: E. Aldonin, P. Mamaev, V. Bystrov, I. Denisov, K. Zyrianov, I. Semshov, S. Semak
F: A. Arshavin, A. Kerzhakov, R. Pavlyuchenko, P. Pogrebnyak

- I don't understand the Aldonin selection.

- Good to see Mamaev being phased in and Saenko phased out.

- Kerzhakov back on the squad and well deserved.

- Bystrov has played much better lately and isn't a bad selection.

disagree on Kerzhakov, Mamaev is a good thing, based on reports Aldonin has improved under Zico, very skeptical on Janbaev, especially based on Rubin - Loko game, A. Beresutskiy doesn't have any PT under Zico.

Denisov and Semshov are having a poor year as well, but after all in Hus we trust!

let's go Russia! we really could use 3 pts in Finnland, it will be extremely hard though, and I'd be happy with a pt.

Aguyar (sp?) is joining DM - strengthening all the needed positions. DM looked pretty good vs. Tom, and Kerzhakov resembled his old good self, scoring two goals and hitting the bar.

I've read that Semak is hurt.

If he can't go, who takes his spot? Aldonin? Mamaev?

Aldonin and Semshov will be playing the DM positions, IMHO.

It looks like Yanbaev will take Anyukov's spot, I do not like him at all!

Damnit. Finland nearly lost points to Lichtenstein. It would've made our job easier.

I hope we beat Finland.

I am worried about this game. If we lose to Finland we basically lose any chance for the 1st place and Finland will have 13 pts over our 12. That said, we will have a really tough game in Wales and a game against Germany left...
