Lets see Ovechkin end Gonchar's season on a dirty, knee-to-knee hit, and him not get any fine or suspension what so ever.

Oh wait..

Nicklas Backstrom

On a positive note, Backs was incredible in game 5. He is turning into an elite player and proving his worth in the playoffs...

He is a great player, imagine how much better if he took off season conditioning seriously and worked on his skating.

It's irritating that they can't seem to call it as they see it like they're supposed to do.
Yeah the refs let it ride.

I saw two sticks to the face on morrison within 15 seconds, the first a stick broke on his head or face.

Tis the life of a Caps fan. I remember playing the Pens in the playoffs and I think one game ended with the puck going off of Jagrs butt and the other Jagr shot it at Cote or Johansson and it went in.

I am not surprised anymore regarding end gaming flukey goals.

Anyhow the Caps got themselves in this. Where was tonights effort the past 3 games?

We played the best game against the Pens to me, still not perfect but the best one yet. I knew they can actually hustle and play at high speed.

I can't believe he can sell out Mellon Arena! I also can't believe there are no other venues in the Pittsburgh area where Yanni could perform...if what he plays is called performing.

EGADS! As Beavis & Butthead would say, "Wait a minute, what's this, this sucks." This is the shortest clip around. Most run in the 10-13 minute range!!!

He's a smart kid, too. You can almost see him learning during the game.

He's been shooting a little more.

Anyone else now upset that the Nylander/Byfuglien didn't go through?

Man, this kid is looking like a beast/pest/scorer in the playoffs. I know the rumor was another player along with Nylander to the Hawks for him, but if only the good things would've happened he would've been a great addition especially against the pens.

I'm sure that the other player would have been a quality forward at least at the level of Fleishman. There isn't a snowball chance in hell of getting Buff for anything less than Nylander and another quality offensive player.

I would do Nylander and Flash for Buff in a heart beat. I just wished it had happened during the regular season.

This is a waste of time. You are talking about a rumor where there is zero solid information. Just congecture. There was nothing there.

Yeah we could've used him, right now Nylander MIGHT fetch a bag of pucks or a conditional 7th rounder(about the same value lol). Thank god the NMC expires next year so we can dump him at the deadline.

txpd, exactly. You have no idea that there was not information to the rumor, correct? That is why it is a rumor, but there was alot information flying at the time. This is a "what if" nothing more, nothing less. Stop looking into so hard, we lost game 5. Get over if move on, this thread is only for some chat and the possibly "what if" factor. The kid is playing well.

Backstrom/OV is the next Kurri/Gretzky. If Mike Green can dislodge his head from his rectum and at least make an honest attempt to play defense and Varly stays the course we'll be a serious cup contender for the next decade.

You are brutal. If there is a dark side of something, you will be the guy to find it and tell us all about it.

Hehehe, call me a realist and the voice of reason. Trying to make an honest observation and point that we have not seen his true potential yet and that we have a real gem.

I am not knocking Backstrom at all. I am sooooooo glad he is on our team and thank god for him and OV. I really love the kid, in a admiration and fatherly way.

I am just saying he has not reached his potential yet and when he does, he will be so good that I think he wont be eclipsed by Semin, AO, Crosby, or Malkin. Showing up to camp +20 pounds heavier on fat, that just takes more more games to take off.

This kid has so much going for him. If he worked on his skating and conditioning during the off season, he probably would not have a slow start like he did. His board work already one of the best on the team would also be even better.

So don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be a negative nancy and just saying he is really good and we have not even seen his best.

Oh come on, as a man I cannot deny that I succumb to his flowing locks, dreamy body, and gentle persuasions. He is a Fabio meets John Stossel of 20/20 with the mind of John Tesh. A real man would admit to his man love for another guy.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JOKING!!!
Thank you Ladyice for that bit of torture.

A couple of pictures and Lisa Hillary doesn't confirm that Backstrom showed up 20 pounds overweight. I highly doubt he would show up that out of shape.
