kiss of death my friend.

For those who keep sending Antropov and Kozlov to Dallas, they don't need centers. They have Ribeiro, Richards, Ott, Sutherby, Peterson, and depending if he retires or not Modano. Dallas has far too many centers to be taking on more.

What do you mean? Its not perfect, but it has updated rosters and has all the lengths and terms of deals. Whats wrong with it?

I've run the numbers on Bouwmeester going to Dallas and if the Stars commited the money to bringing him to Dallas in 2009 keeping all 3 of James Neal, Fabian Brunnstrom, and Loui Eriksson is impossible in 2010 (keeping in mind the cap will dive to around 50 mill 2 years from now), and re-signing Marty Turco is out of the question..

Bouwmeester is probably worth losing one of our young forwards for... but at the same time Dallas has enough young talent at the defensive position that I would rather they just continue to build from within. Unless Bouwmeester is willing to take something like 7.5-8 mill for 1 year to play for a Stanley Cup contendor I hope Dallas doesn't sign him

I think the Pens take a real run at either one top-name player (i.e. Gaborik, Hossa) or two pretty good players (i.e. Kovalev, Samuelsson) this off season.

Yeah, with the money coming off the books in terms of UFA's and RFA's, along with some replaceable players (i.e. Dupuis replaced on the 4th line with someone from WBS) there will be a bit of money to toss around this summer.

Accuracy to put it simply. If you really want to read more Post #12 can tell you about it. http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.p...nhlnumbers.com

Well that changes it, though he is a left shot which makes him less valuable to Dallas, but Dallas is shallow on RW. Why did everyone have him listed as a center? Does he do RW and C?

he didnt play center with the rangers. he played predominantly on the left wing and on the right side for the PP.

It's basically Crosby, Malkin and a bunch of 3rd liners as it is.

Kunitz - Crosby - Gaborik (at $7.0mil-$7.5mil)
Caputi - Malkin - Fedotenko/Kovalev (at $2.5mil or $3.0-$3.5mil respectively)

Sure, it would be cutting it close, but I think having a dangerous winger with Sid and Malkin would be devastating to the opposition.

Would Antropov be willing to sign for 1 year do you think? because every single dollar he takes up on the roster in 2010 is 1 dollar less the Stars have to re-sign Eriksson, Brunnstrom, and Neal..

If he would take around 4 mill for 1 year then I'd be very happy with these lines to start the season:

Brenden Morrow - Mike Ribeiro - Loui Eriksson
James Neal - Brad Richards - Nick Antropov
Fabian Brunnstrom - Mike Modano - Jere Lehtinen
Steve Ott - Brian Sutherby - Raymond Sawada

I don't think any other team in the league would have that kind of depth up front.. 2009-10 is shaping up nicely for the Stars if they make a couple smart moves in free agency

By the way, Senatorsfan56... I'm Bryan Murray. Don't tell the others. You're the only one who can see this, I put a shield over this post that allows only you to read it. Right now, I am working on a deal with Carolina to get Erik Cole for Kelly, Smith, Schubert, and my favorite "Spay and Neuter Your Dogs" bumper sticker. Since you've stuck by Cole this whole time, I thought I would tell you first.

P.S, in case you were worried that I was tampering, I'm not. See, I'm writing this from... the future!

well im a rangers fan, and if we cant get either gabs or hossa id love to resign antropov for about what you said. he did say he liked NY but thats very common for most players to say that. 4m is about where he would command on the market. if the stars could show they can win soon than they have a chance of signing him because he said thats one of the things about playing in NY compared to toronto this year.

I guess I can make my predictions now since this thread is going pretty well. Thanks to worstfaceoffmanever for the start of this list, nicely organized.

My predictions:

1. Henrik Sedin - Vancouver
2. Mike Cammalleri - Toronto
3. Mats Sundin - Vancouver/Retirement
4. Saku Koivu - Montreal/Retirement
5. Robert Lang - Montreal/Detroit/Retirement
6. Nik Antropov - NYR/Atlanta
7. Viktor Kozlov - Chicago

10. Ville Peltonen - Retirement

Right Wing
1. Marian Hossa - Detroit
2. Martin Havlat - Chicago

5. Petr Sykora - Montreal
6. Alexei Kovalev - Pittsburgh
7. Todd Bertuzzi - Calgary/Retirement
8. Mikael Samuelsson - NYI
9. Mike Knuble - Nashville

11. Bill Guerin - Pittsburgh/Retirement

Defense
1. Jay Bouwmeester - Dallas
2. Mike Komisarek - Colorado (Second guess would be Atlanta though.)

6. Francois Beauchemin - Montreal
7. Paul Mara - NYR
8. Jaroslav Spacek - Buffalo

Viktor Kozlov hasn't played Center in 2 years. He's a RW.

I agree. Mara is pretty decent as a defensive D-man but I don't think he would want Kaleta as a teammate.

Hmmm. I notice the team pictured in the avatar or name tends to sign the most players in the post.

two things about he canucks for people. 1 - Pyatt isnt coming back, we have no space or money and young players coming up. 2- if they dont resign the Sednins, why do you guys all have them signing noone? The top two lines would be empty without them and Sundin.

Well I had the Habs signing those players because maybe, unlike some other Canadian teams, they have more than 30M$ of cap space and didn't commited themselves into paying players like Mike Fisher more than $4M bucks a year. DUH.

I know he's not high on the list of discussion, but Roloson has stated publicly several times this year he wants to keep playing for 3-4 years. He is not even close to contemplating retirement and he has backed that up with his strong play this season. Not sure if he will sign with the Oilers or not - everything I've read indicates the ball is in his court and they will talk after the WC's.

Fernandez, however, alluded to considering retirement in an article I read a month or so ago.
