Bears vs Pens at WBS tonight

Alzner should play; Beagle up with the Caps

for WBS: Pesonen and Wozniewski possible additions to the line-iup returning from injuries; Bissonnette and Wallace out due to injury

a write-up about Andrew Gordon's role and working towards the NHL

Go Caps Go Bears Go Rays!

I'm not a fan of Bissonnette but I hope he is ok given the potential serious nature of the injury. Pesonen returning could be a concern for the Bears.

Oh, did something happen to Biz in the last game? I spent so much time trying to watch both games I ended up missing anything good.

Pesonen's return helped the baby Pens, 4 points, and the Pens win 6-3 and tie the series 2-2; yup these NHL/AHL series still following the same path; of course, now there is a change with the AHL series following a 2-3-2 format, tonight's game 5 is being played at WBS. Grant McNeill played last night with Beagle's recall and had a goal, along with Pinizzotto and Aucoin. Pens view of the game (and Pinizzotto)

Game 5: 7pm at WBS tonight
Game 6: 5pm in Hershey Sunday

ECHL: Stingrays conf. finals series starts tonight. Oh and Las Vegas won its series so 3 of the 4 conf. finalists the same as a year ago. The other series is Las Vegas vs Alaska.

On Sunday, the Bears will be playing for their season to continue after a 4-1 loss to WBS. Alzner missed the game due to injury. Bouchard and G. McNeill were the scratches, Reid played and had a goal. Collins played on D and had an assist and Brennan also played.

The Stingrays won 7-4 to open the series against the Cyclones. Still no Godfrey in the line-up. link to stats/game summary

pretty much like Minard.... Great AHL player that just can't translate that play to the NHL level. Wish he could though

nhl level speed

ahl level hands

Dude mishandled or blew several breakaway chances and scoring opportunities where NHL level timing limits him more than the AHL does.

see with minard i think if they put him in a sykora type role he could have life in the nhl but forcing guys into fourth line roles to prove themselves is not always the best way to take advantage of a players abilities and I was wondering if he was one of these type of players.

We'll see next year. Believe it's NHL or bust for him next year from my understanding.

Note on the game…holy hell Darren Reid. Knew he was a solid player but he played out of his freakin skull tonight!

From the opening faceoff/shift, the Bears showed up for the game, which was nice to see. Joudrey missed the shot on a nice set-up on that first shift, but it did set the tone for the game nicely. IMO, Reid's best game in a Hershey uniform, not sure that is saying much from the games I have seen him play, but he played very well, scoring opportunities, hits, etc., and the goal was a beauty. Gordon also continued his strong play in the playoffs. Outside of one flub in the third, I thought Patrick McNeill had a very solid game on D. Arsene with the second and third efforts had a good game, and it is impossible to tell that Carlson has only played 6 pro games. The rookie line was reunited for the game. Biggest negative was the PP outside of the 1 they connected on early in the second. Both goalies played well and each had some sweet saves, too; a few close calls with the Bears, but congrats to Neuvirth on recording the shutout, his second of the playoffs.

Tuesday night at Giant Center - Go Bears!

Any AHL fan from last year or 2 could tell you Reid is a solid player. Glad he's finally getting the ice time to show it. The D really showed up too. Awesome to see your defensive player of the year get a scratch and still take care of business.

Also…I can't believe the ref to be quiet honest. I think we actually got away with a couple as did the Pens. One of the better games from that aspect that i've seen in the playoffs so far.

For Reid, it is about being healthy and earning the ice time, IMO. He was not playing well in the games he played for the Bears this season and he also missed a number of games with injury and left several games due to injury this season. I said to some people last night that the Reid last night was closer to the player I thought they were signing from my memories of him in a Phantoms jersey, etc. It also helped that he was rested compared to a lot of the guys on the ice, but he was very effective all night and it was a pretty goal.

The calls, some were let go on both sides esp. in the first period when people were joking that he forgot his whistle, and yes, a few that were called were a bit odd.

TEB reported that he is hearing speculation that Alzner may have a concussion. Leone is reporting that Bouchard was not a healthy scratch in G5 but was an injury scratch before returning for G6.

Bears play Game 7 tomorrow night.

some more from Leone... link

Stingrays play Game 2 tonight.

Well whatever it was it looked like it wasn't to bad of an injury for Frenchie!

Ammo and Reid were both pretty much constant scratches for the later half of the year due to contracts for next year? I don't believe that helped that period of time came after he was finally healing up.

It's about time we find out what's going on with Alzner. I think almost everyone knew something was wrong for him not to be playing this length of time.

Thanks for the explanation about contracts Yes, Reid was held out down the stretch due to the AHL vet rule and next season, but earlier in the season he was hurt and he left several games early due to injury where he did not return so what I posted was true, IMO, last night was the first time I saw a complete game from Reid where I saw the player I expected when they signed him last summer.

Note: as was planned, Reid and Amadio both finished with 259 regular season games played that count towards the AHL vet rule so both will have 1 more season where they don't count as AHL vets.

"length of time"? It is two games on back to back nights.

SC Stingrays win 3-1 take the 2-0 series lead and now head to Cincy, with the 2-3-2 format. Pokulok out (family; first kid on the way) Kiser returns; only 4 penalties in the game; Next game is Wed night.

1. CIN Macdonald, (2) (Sproat, Miller), 3:55
1. SC Dubuc, (4) (Kashirsky, Carbery), 9:06
2. SC Lacroix, (5) (Farynuk), 4:52
3. SC Campbell, (3) (Wellar, Kroll), 19:51 (EN)

Again, it's crazy how much the 2 NHL and AHL series have paralleled each other.

OT: in other AHL series, Milwaukee didn't want their season to end, a 7-0 win to send that series to a game 7, too; not new, but it is interesting to see Milwaukee with the playoff addition of Smolinski; and Houston adding Hrkac late in the regular season
