What do you see happening with your UFAs?

Who do you think your team won't resign?
Who do you think they WILL resign but you wish they wouldn't?

Predators UFAs-

Joel Ward- Will be resigned, just need to figure out his value after a great rookie season.

Greg Zanon- REALLY want to resign, but is due a huge raise. League-leader in shots blocked and hits for the last three years, a warhorse that's developed into a character guy and legit second pairing d-man.

Vernon Fiddler - Of the following three, the guy I'd most like to see brought back. Terrific PK guy, decent in shootouts and good for 10-15 goals. Perfect bottom six guy.

Radek Bonk- Wouldn't mind having him back, for the right price. Top faceoff guy in the league, good defensively, good in the room, 15 or so goals a year. Second choice of the three similar forwards.

Scott Nichol- He's done a lot for the Predators, is a fan favorite, great PKer...maybe one of the best, but his play has steadily declined. No offense whatsoever. Hopefully won't be re-signed.

Greg DeVries- Useless and expensive. Won't be re-signed. Sulzer, Blum or Franson will take his spot in the lineup.

Ville Koistinen- given every opportunity to be Zidlicky's replacement...didn't work at all. Requested trade halfway through the season after being a perma-scratch. Needless to say he's gone.

Steve Sullivan- the biggest question. Both sides want to work something out, but Nashville says, "hey, you were out for 2 years, and you're not getting any younger...you should take a paycut" while Sullivan says, "I came back, and after ten games, I was the best player on the team again. I deserve a RAISE!" Fans are torn on this one....I'd like to see him back, but he's a risk.

Flyers:

Mike Knuble - Good vet, good for 25 goals year in and year out, and is a bit of a departure from most other Flyers forwards aside from Hartnell. I think his play in front of the net and along the boards is important, but he makes 2.9 now and i can't see him making too much less than that on his next contract. I think the cap space is more valuable at this point. Tough one to walk away from but i think it might be the best move. He is also getting to the age where play starts to noticeably decline.

Andrew Alberts - I like him as a 3rd pairing guy, and aside from a few really poor stretches he was pretty good for the Flyers. That said, i don't bring him back at his current 1.25 salary. Sbisa has top pairing potential, and should be ready for 3rd pairing duty next season, at half a million less. Alberts does bring a physical edge to the team that is necessary, so if he goes they should address the physical need on the blue line but hopefully with someone better who can slide into the 2nd pairing

Antero Niittymaki - There's next to no chance he will be back. Holmgren has publicly referred to him as damaged goods.

Marty Biron - Most likely player to be brought back, and i think that is a wise move. There isn't much going on out there in terms of goalie's, and given the Flyers cap situation i think this is the safest bet.

Pittsburgh Penguins:
Mathieu Garon: Too expensive and hasn't impressed at all, next years backup will be a rookie most likely. Not re-signed.

Hal Gill: Solid Bottom pairing guy,can be a beast on the PK,often exposed for lack of speed, should be more physical than he is. Unlikely to be resigned unless willing to take a significant pay cut and Scuderi becomes too expensive for us.

Rob Scuderi:Excellent Bottom pairing guy, excellent with his stick, 5-3 PK expert,Bit of an offensive black hole, can play the right side even though left handed.Could be this year's Jeff Finger, hopefully we'll re-sign him at 2 mil cap hit but could well be gone especially if we continue with a deep playoff run

Craig Adams:4th Heart and Soul Right Winger,Good penalty killer, good on the forecheck, cup experience, will fight if required, will not be re-signed as we have an abundance of 4th liners.

Mike Zigomanis:4th line centre/face off specialist, coming off shoulder surgery, not bad offensively for a 4th line player.Couldn't make Phoenix's roster at the start of the season but was very useful to the Pens.Hopefully back at around 0.9 mil cap hit.

Phillipe Boucher:Bottom pairing defenseman,a good guy for a rebuilding team with young defenseman, can be used in all situations but only on the second units ideally, still got a very hard shot but has lost accuracy. Will use the body. Will not be re-signed and will need to take a pay cut to stay in the league.

Ruslan Fedetenko:Marginal Top 6,oddly clutch in the playoff, hard worker who can throw a good check, does the little things well, good wrist shot,Likely good for around 40 points with minimal PP duty. Could be re-signed if he is willing to take similar money(2.1 million)

Miroslav Satan:Marginal Top 6, Seemed disinterested in the regular season, very streaky, has lost a step, not good along the boards or on the back or forecheck, good wrist shot, very composed with the puck on his stick, decent vision and passing. Will not be re-signed,will need to take a pay cut to stay in the NHL and could end up in the KHL or Slovakia.

Bill Guerin:Top 6,Good Veteran Presence,Good in front of the net, will get the dirty goals,a good hard wrist shot, works hard along the boards, not very quick, will drop the gloves if necessary.May Retire, might be re-signed,Only wants to play in the Atlantic Division.

Petr Sykora:Top 6, Always Good for 20 goals, very streaky, can rack up goals on the PP,very tentative along the boards, not always the hardest worker,Has more than likely suffered a shoulder injury towards the end of the season.Despite his troubles at the back end of the season and the Playoffs there is still a decent chance that he is re-signed due to his close relationship with Malkin, his desire to play in Pittsburgh, and relatively low price.

Thrashers:
(C) Reasoner, Marty ($1,000,000) - Atlanta will wildly over pay him and offer him a nice four year deal. He's a unanimous fan favorite and part of the new design to build around guys with heart. (Not Zhitniks). If Kovalchuk wasn't captain, Marty might have been given the C this coming year.
(C) Perrin, Eric ($750,000) - Played well after requesting a trade and being put on waivers. Bob Hartley's pet project won't be asked back. He's too small and slow, and has no shot, and is no longer good on the PK.
(R) Hoffman, Mike ($550,000) - busted up, won't be back.
(R) Motzko, Joe ($550,000) - didn't do badly in his call ups, but he's not young. Sign him for The Wolves perhaps and depth.
(C) Stevenson, Grant ($550,000) - probably won't be back.

Hilbert and possibly McAmmond will not be back. There's no room for Hilbert anymore and Thompson might as well take McAmmond's spot.

Too bad I loved McAmmond as an Islander.

Blue Jackets:

Manny Malhotra: Will probably be resigned unless he asks for an outrageous amount of money. He's really important to the club and we need his versatility. Resigning him is Howson's top priority until July 1.

Jason Williams: May be resigned if the Jackets can't find a suitable replacement via trade or free agency.

Wade Dubielewicz: Same as Williams, however finding a better backup for Mason is a higher priority so he probably wont be back.

Mike Peca: Up in the air. Last report was he was evaluating what he wanted to do so he may decide he doesn't want to come back. He has said he wont retire.

Christian Backman: Gone and soon to be forgotten.

Chris Gratton: No idea. If nothing else works out on the center front and Williams wants too much money, he may be resigned but it's a long shot.

Mike York: Gone.

Aaron Rome: Will probably be resigned as the 7th/8th defenseman and be shuffled back and forth between Syracuse and Columbus.

i think knuble will be getting a healthy raise this summer and will be looking to cash in on possibly his last contract. problem is hell be worth the price and that places him out of the flyers price range. i think he goes to toronto or vancouver

biron will be back if hell take a pay cut but i dont know how likely that is as hes the best goalie on the free agent market. hell definitely test the market and if he gets the offer he wants hes gone bu i think they flyers stick to thier guns at 3 mil

nitty to the kings cheap. and alberts i have no idea just not here.

LA:

ARMSTRONG, DEREK-Possibly a 1-year deal
CALDER, KYLE-Gone
ERSBERG, ERIK(already signed)
GAUTHIER, DENIS-Gone(hopefully, although he was good on the PK).
O'DONNELL, SEAN(already resigned)

There's also Preissing, but he'll get bought out.

Gone
Mike Cammalleri: Goodbye. Too much money (and term) for a guy that can't be a difference maker on his own. He'll get 5 and change from somebody I'd bet.

Andre Roy: Who cares.

Jamie Lundmark: I think Sutter will try to resign him to a similar deal... but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to a bottom-feeder in hopes of getting regular minutes

Adrian Aucoin: I actually don't mind him as much as lots of Flames fans, but I can't see him back. He'd have to take a HUGE paycut and be a 6/7 dman.. and I can't see him sticking around for that reason.

Jordan Leopold: Unsure on him. Had a hard playoff and I get the feeling he'll want to go back home to Minnesota. Just a hunch.

Back

Todd Bertuzzi: I don't want him back.. but I think he'll be back.

Sedins: Both re-signed for $5.5M-$6M

Sundin: Signed for a year at $4M during the off season or retires

Ohlund: Gone

Pyatt: Gone

Rypien: Signed for 2 years or more probably at around $0.5M-$0.6M

Davison/Vaananen: Could both stay or leave, depending on if we find better replacements.

LaBarbara: Won't be back. Schneider will assume his role as backup.

Dallas

lethinen-will either retire or be back-year to year will he play for 1.5-2 mill-leaning to coming back

Zubov-same as lets but could get 2-3 mill if healthy

Morrison-interesting pickup probably wants too much but I would be fine on a 1 year 1+ deal-

Parrish only if they want him in Austin on a 2 way deal

Not alot of decisions to make only a free agent top 4 d-man, backup goalie and a Right shot winger seem likely-

Joel Ward - Should be resigned, I hope its cheap for several years, I can see him playing in a scoring line as he is great in corners and in front of the net but even if he busts there Ward is still a great 3rd liner so it would still not be a bad signing.

Greg Zanon - I have no idea what the Preds want to do but I would resign him, he ended up being the veteran prescence on the blueline instead of De Vries.

Vernon Fiddler - The definition of a utility player, I have a feeling he may be back but I would rather have Bonk.

Radek Bonk - Im pretty sure he is going to be let go but I want him back, great on faceoffs, has a bit of offensive pop.

Scott Nichol - If Fiddler and Bonk are both gone I see Nichol back. Stereotypical 4th line center and we already have Smithson, I like him but I want to move on.

Greg De Vries -

Ville Koistinen - Will not be resigned and shouldnt be with the defensive depth, might not even play in the NHL next year, may head back to Europe.

Steve Sullivan - I want him back its just whether the team meets his demands.

Agree on Lehtinen, Zubov, and Morrison
Begin-tough luck when he came to Dallas, got hurt pretty quick after coming down, and frankly just don't think he had enough time after getting healthy to really prove anything. Don't see him coming back to Dallas.
Lundqvist-already given his walking papers
Wilson-Not sure, he would be great for the AHL team and a possible call up when injuries require it, after the injuries this year I'm not sure you can have too many spares.
Parrish-his NHL career seems to have expired, didn't do much with the opportunity he was given here in Dallas. If he will play in Austin fine...if not see ya.
Sydor-For the love of all things holy let him retire and take a coaching job, or be a non-playing lockerroom leader.

Petr Sykora - gone
Miro Satan - gone
Ruslan Fedotenko - at the right price I think he stays
Bill Guerin - same as Fedotenko
Craig Adams - I like him, but we have cheaper 4th line options in the minors
Mike Zigmanis - enticing as a face-off king, but anything over 0.9 million is ridiculous.

Phillipe Boucher - gone
Rob Scuderi - hopefully stays with a discount
Hal Gill - possibly stays if Scuds doesn't

Minnesota Wild:

Gaborik- Probably already packing his race simulator. Gone.

Benoit Pouliot- Last chance for Benny. I think he'll be back. Sounded like he got his head on straight in Houston and finally realizes that he'll have to work to play in the NHL.

Dan Fritsche- Played well for us coming from NYR. I think we'll re-sign him to be on our 4th line.

Stephane Veilleux- Actually hired an agent this season. Decent energy guy, that works hard every shift, limited skill. Gone

Peter Olvecky- I hope we re-sign him. Played well when we called him up. Versatile forward with good size.

Martin Skoula- Finally played up to his contract value. Cut down on his brain farts in the defensive zone. Will probably be looking for a raise. Gone.

M.A. Bergeron- Booming slapshot, but unimpressed with his defensive coverage. Although he seemed to improve as the season progressed. Hopefully he'll re-sign for about $2.25M

Kurtis Foster- Another big shot from the blueline. Albeit less accurate than MAB's. Big body that does not play physical. Wild re-signed him last off-season even though we knew his broken leg would keep him out for a big chunk of 2008-09. Hopefully he will return the loyalty and sign for a cost of living raise and be our 6-7 Dman.

Josh Harding- Great upside and I was hoping he'd be our goalie of the future, but Backstrom just had to put up a Vezina quality season. Gone with hopefully some tangible return.

Pittsburgh

UFAs

Bill Thomas - Won't be an impact guy with the Pens - Gone.

Alex Goligoski - Had a great rookie year and will defiantly be in Pit's top 6 - Signed for 1-1.5M

Ben Lovejoy - Had a great year in the AHL this season and will most likely be the Pens' 7th defenseman (6th if they can't afford to keep Scuds or Gill) - Signed for .8-1.2M

Dave Brown - Lost his spot in WBS to Curry - Gone

John Curry - Starter in WBS and will fight for the backup role in the NHL - Signes for .6-1M

UFAs

Bill Guerin - Has played well with Sid and seems to like playing in Pittsburgh. It all depends on what his asking price is and who the Pens are able to sign - Probably gone but if he stays it'll be for 2.5-3.5M

Miro Satan - Wow what a disappointment - Gone

Petr Sykora - Seems to have lost his spot on the 2nd line to Max 'Superstar' Talbot - Gone

Ruslan Fedotenko - Been great in the playoffs on Malkin's wing and has earned another contract - Signed for 2-2.5M

Janne Pesonen - Never given a shot with the MT run Pens. He will probably not want to sign with Pit but due to the cap I hope they sign him - Probably gone but if he stays it'll be for .8-1.2M

Mike Zigomantis - Was great as the FO specialist before the injury. The Pens could defiantly keep him as their 4th line center for the right price - Signed for .8-1M

Craig Adams - Good 4th liner but the Pens have cheaper 4th line talent - Gone

Philippe Boucher - The Pen's current 7th D - Gone

Hal Gil - Big, slow, and loves to score on MAF. He's gone unless Scuds has played himself out of the Pens' price range - Gone but if he stays it'll be for 2M

Rob Scuderi - One of the most underrated D-men in the game IMO. Has been great against OV this series and could be this year's Jeff Finger - Signed for 2-2.5M if he wants to stay, gone if he wants his payday

Mathieu Garon - He's a good back-up but the Pens have a few guys who are capable back-ups and are cheaper - Gone

(D) Ohlund, Mattias- gone
