Penguins have about 10 mil to replace Garon, Boucher, Gill, Sykora, Fedotenko, Guerin, and Satan.

Bob Gainey: well, Roman, sure we have an up and coming, young, dominant defensman in Komisarek, and sure, he's a UFA in 2 years, and sure, no other team would offer you over 3.5-4 million dollars per year for 2-3 years... But hey, let's start negotiations at 4 years 20 million. We can move up from there.

That is all, sir.

I'm not really buying into the cap dropping thing, I think it'll go up to about $58mil-$59mil.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Staal moved this summer, maybe at the draft, freeing up another $4mil. I think we cut ties with Dupuis as well, and Scuderi is pricing himself out of a reasonable spot in Pittsburgh.

I just mocked up a quick lineup and it came out to $46.635mil with winger spots open on both Crosby and Malkin's wing.

Kunitz (3.75) - Crosby (8.70) - ???
Caputi (.585) - Malkin (8.70) - ???
Cooke (1.20) - Zigomanis (.700) - Kennedy (.600)
Adams (.750) - Talbot (1.05) - Godard (.750)

Spare: Wallace (.500)

Orpik (3.75) - Gonchar (5.00)
Goligoski (1.00) - Eaton (2.00)
Letang (1.25) - Lovejoy (.750)

Fleury (5.00)
Curry (.600)

Leaving quite a bit of money to find 2 wingers. Enough to spend big on one of them, regardless of whether or not the cap goes up another $2mil-$3mil.

Well the cap for 2010-2011 are based off this years numbers, and it's widely speculated that the numbers are down. I don't think it's just a rumor..

i don't really care who goes where as long as Pitt doesn't get anyone worth mentioning and if the Flyers can land JBo and Komisarek while resigning Knuble, trading away Jones Lupul, Briere and signing a worthy goaltender.

For some reason, I could just picture Anderson going to the Blues. Their goaltending would be pretty good. I liked how Mason played last season and was pretty disappointed to see the Blues eliminated but they were definitely a darkhorse. I can just see Anderson signing though. With him as a backup, the Blues have good goaltending depth.

Toronto:
H. Sedin
D. Sedin
Cammalleri
Ohlund
Pahlsson

-Burke is going to sign a bunch of his former players, most notably the Sedins. Cammalleri has implied he wants to come home to play for the Leafs for a while now as well. I think Ohlund will be Burke's replacement for Kaberle once he is traded.

Vancouver:
Hossa
Gaborik
Bouwmeester

-Hossa and especially Gaborik have been rumored to be going to Vancouver for a while now. I think Hossa's future depends on what happens with the Wings this year. I also think Gillis wants Bouwmeester (as evident at the deadline) to replace Ohlund.

So Montreal loses all its UFAs and signs Oduya? That means they should start the season with... $15,000,000 in cap space or so...

No love for Pahlsson in this thread?

I expect Tallon will do everything in his power to re-sign Havlat, Pahlsson, and Khabibulin. And I expect he'll be able to sign at least 2 of those 3. My guess is that Khabibulin will be the odd man out if we need to let one of them go for cap reasons.

Wow. I honestly can't believe how badly I messed that up!
I don't know why, but I just can't think of a player they would get, and I think most of the UFAs this year for montreal have had enough, with the possible exception of Komi. Regardless, bad slip on my part. Who do you think they sign/resign? I could see them going after Ohlund, maybe Havlat... I know he has spent some off-season time there, and he seems like a Gainey kind of guy.

are we still feeling a little bitter over your first round loss....boo hoo..poor philly....

I would sell my soul for Hossa to come back to Pgh, but that will never happen because they can't afford him anymore...and he doesn't want to play here anyway.

Ten million isn't going to go very far. Scuds will be their priority and I think that feds will be retained.

To be honest, I'd really like to see them take a run at the Sedins, and put Kostitsyn on their line. The Habs are one of the few teams that could easily absorb that kind of contract and are looking to totally revamp their first line. I know Montreal may not be at the top of the list for most UFAs, but Europeans like the city as a place to live, so there may be some allure. Otherwise, my guess would be Gaborik. I really do believe, though, that this is the year that we attract a legitimate high end free agent.

You'd really want the Sedins?
I mean, they're very good, of course, but the price is HUGE. The asking price is starting at 13mil. That puts the Habs at 38mil committed to like 12 players. 15 mil for the other 9 is iffy to say the least. Damn this cap!

I'm sorry to Kings fans, I forgot that the Kings like Ersberg and Quick. I can actually see Biron going to Colorado instead. It would be a decent fit since Raycroft is out of there. Biron can easily start there. I'd like to see what the Kings goalies can do. If Quick has a good season the Kings have a real chance with their talent on offense.
