St. Louis would never even consider making this trade. Spezza is good, but in a few years Johnson alone could be worth as much as him. And to trade Berglund and Oshie as well? That would be nuts.
Johnson is coming off a major injury. That being said, could substitute Pietrangelo for Johnson. I wasn't sure which defenseman the Blues were higher on.
St. Louis has painstakingly built a young core through the draft. They are not trading away 3 significant pieces of that core for Jason Spezza, as good as he may be. The Blues don't even begin to consider this.

All pieces from St.Louis are key compenents for this franchise. Berglund is a potential #1 center, TJ is an absolute fan favorite and EJ may win a Norris in the future. Your prosposal is absolutely disgusting and is VERY one sided in favor of Ottawa.
After the lockout, the mistake of the past became clearly visible for the majority of the fans and management. Year after year, prospects and picks were traded for veterans with little success (no Cups.) Jarmo Kekalainen & his scouting staff helped to rebuild this franchise and now we are finally seeing the benefits of those painful building years between 2005 and 2008.
Keep Spezza! I'm convinced that he will rebound next season. Will keep our guys and wait for Eller, Pietrangelo, Palushaj...etc. to join Bergy, TJ and EJ in the NHL.

Ok, I am better now. The Blues have build a good team who is about to turn into a great team, with a few more components coming either via draft or by FA. And you want to simple destroy it because you think you have either overpaid or think he is no good no more, simple regarding to Spezza. Now you want to come get our young players for JS. I don't think so, I never really liked Spezza anyways.

No problem, we signed Anders Forsberg who had worked along side Hakan Andersson for the last 10 years, helping him to build the Detroit Red Wings. It was Andersson who personally went to Bryan Murray and recommended Forsberg for the job.
We're fine without Kekalainen and Frank Jay etc. Erik Karlsson is a shining example of that (not to mention Patrick Wiercioch, Zach Smith, Andre Petersson and Emil Sandin).

Actually, there have been much worse proposals.
I clearly overestimated Spezza's value while underestimated the Blues' youngsters.
It would be helpful, though, if people actually made a suggestion on what would be fair value instead of making a "hit-and-run" comment.

Here is the deal. The Blues think that Johnson, Berglund, and Oshie are the future of their franchise. It would be hard enough to pry one of them away, much less all 3 of them. You said in your post that St. Louis was an up and coming team. We wouldn't be up and coming anymore if we traded away all of our young kids.
First of all, you aren't prying Johnson away from us at all. He was the best defensive prospect in the draft since Pronger. The Blues feel he will be the next Pronger. He is untouchable.
The Blues (and many other scouts) feel that Berglund will be the next Sundin. If that's the case, Berglund will be as good as Spezza in the next two years for less than half the price. I doubt you would get Oshie from us as well.
Finally, the most you could possibly hope out of us would be (Oshie OR Perron) + a 1st round pick, and even I would probably balk at that. The Blues are a lower revenue team and don't want to be paying a $7MM/yr long term contract if they think a younger, cheaper player could put up similar production.
I don't understand why St. Louis would even consider a trade unless the other team is getting robbed out of their mind. St. Louis really came together after a first half slide and posted the best record in the whole league during the second half of the season and barely missed the playoffs.
St. Louis should stand pat unless like I said, the other team is getting robbed i.e. Upshall and a 2nd for Carcillo

I don't necessary agree with the scouting reports that you provided, but I can accept your point of view. Berglund I think will be a very good player, but I don't see him developing into a Mats Sundin-type of player. I think he'll be more like an Ollie Jokinen, which is still pretty good.
Obviously the Sens wouldn't agree to a deal of Oshie or Perron + a first-round pick for Spezza. Prospects have potential while Spezza is a proven commodity. I actually think that Spezza would be a great fit in St. Louis. I think he would work very well with either Boyes or Backes.
Of all the posts I read, all the trade proposals, this one is the most brutal one I've read...the Blues get absolutely robbed as they trade away their future for something that's not even close to being fair ! I usually don't post but come on...come on !
