Parise is only winning this because he has the best +/- of the bunch ... but based on the criteria the OP provided, maybe he shouldn't be.

I don't doubt that he's good defensively, but if he's great defensively one would think he could average a bit more than 21 seconds on the PK a game ... and it's not just because NJ has other good defensive players.

And Kovalchuk/Heatley shouldn't be considered at all.

Kopitar's numbers may look good, but he some learning to do yet on the defensive end. And Parise in no way should be winning this poll.
