Elias and Havlat Playing Together

Now, if I had no sense, I'd ask what it would take for the Devils to acquire Havlat. The answer is that we don't have what you need, so I won't. Well, we might have it but we're not giving it up.

I'd love to acquire Elias. To be honest with you I was thinking he had fallen a bit of the radar a couple of seasons ago, but he's came back really strongly.

I'm assuming you guys feel about Elias like we do about Havlat?

Check out the pictures, it seems all of them are about the 2 NHL stars. Most of them also have both Elias & Havlat performing the same move, almost looks like the team only has these 2 players on their rosters.

Probably more strongly since you guys have Hossa and Alfredsson and all we've got is Elias.

Marty needs to stand a little closer to his razor blade...sheesh...

I have to admit...those gradient uniforms are really screwey on the eyes...but damned cool.

Just wondering, but what are you expecting from the NJ brain trust over the next couple of seasons? Specifically, if Scotty leaves for Vancouver to play with Rob do you think that NJ might consider a rebuild or would they just retool. Also what is Elias's contract status? I think its pretty obvious that a deal between us is unlikely while we both have cup aspirations.

Elias is signed for two seasons at 5.5M. I think he's still an RFA coming out of that contract under current market conditions.

NJ is not going to go into rebuild as long as Lou Lamoriello is team GM and president. However, there might be a lull in real contention for a couple years while Parise, Suglobov, Martin, Hale, etc all devolp. Elias is not going anywhere for a while, neither is Gomez. I think you'll see a move away from defense oriented-trap to high pressure forecheck. But the Devils have a quality defense even without Niedermayer, though we'd miss his offense from the back end.

That's the best thing about the European game - the uniforms. It may be advertising on a uniform, but it still looks so much cooler....
