Except Brian Burke has said if he can't trade up (he is very vocal about trading up) he is content at #7 and will pick up the best player available . I don't think he will be trading down unless it's a trade that knocks his socks off .

I wouldn't do that deal for the Leafs... Tavares/Hedman are good, but not worth trading up for IMO. I'd rather have Cowen, Stralman, and whatever we get for Kaberle (guessing late 1st+good prospect).

But, all that said, looking at this from just an Isles perspective, I think this deal is one-sided in our favor. Nielsen, the 26th overall, and a drop from 1st to 2nd is a great price for a the 7th overall.

Swap Kaberle out for Schenn and drop Nielsen out of the equation (include Toronto's old 2009 2nd instead), and perhaps remove Stralman for a better prospect (Tlutsy)and I think this deal goes down.

Otherwise, as is, Tampa gets the shaft.

Isles are NOT going to get the 7th overall for the Sharks 1st and Frans Nielson. Neilson is not worth moving down 19 spots.

Isles will have to give up AT LEAST Rakhshani or Figren along with the 26th pick if they have any hope of getting another top ten pick.

I doubt you could get a 1st rounder AND a good prospect for someone like Kaberle.

While I agree, did you forget that the Isles are moving down a slot?

Me thinks many on this board don't recognize the value of being assured that you'll get your man. Isles are in a position of power at #1 vs. #2 or lower. You think they'll just piss this fact away? Get real.

As for adding Rakhshani or Figren, I'll give up both to pull the trigger on this deal(although I believe Figren's going to be a valuable prospect).

Will have to do some research on those prospects, I'm not familiar with them.

But for the leafs to move down almost 20 picks, they would have to be exceptionally promising.

I think a more realistic proposal would have to include Okposo.
