if you post a player for player swap, it means that you value one player higher than the other, which means that the trade is not fair value

Sometimes teams value players differently because they have different needs that are filled better by different players.

Awful trade for the Oilers. Why would they give up a young guy like Cogliano, who isn't a UFA for 5 years, for RFA Armstrong who is a UFA next summer?

I like Armstrong, but there's no way the Oilers do this. If Cogs gets traded, and I think he could, it should be as part of a package for a legit top 6 player.

Absolutely abysmal.

Maybe something around Cogliano + for Armstrong + Lehtonen could be worked out.

and you called that abysmal. Lehtonen alone is worth a lot more than Cogliano. Did you not hear that Waddell got about 9 calls for his goalies at the deadline? Young No.1 goalies are worth a lot more than undersized centers. Cogliano hasn't proven he can be more than a third line scorer yet. Lehtonen>45 point player.

I'd do it.
The Oilers would not.

I think Armstrong is less attractive than Clarkson from NJ.

I would offer Cogliano for Clarkson.

ok but you dont give up Cogliano to get size, the value is so far off here and Cogs speed makes up for it.

Lehtonen hasn't proven he can be a No.1 goalie, between inconsistency and injury concerns he is still a wild card. There have been hundreds of young goalies with potential and tens of them with the "potential" Kari has who have amounted to nothing. There is a reason goalies are rarely traded for a huge return.

Thinking Cogliano isn't in the ballpark for Lehtonen is ridiculous.

It's amazing how underrated Lehtonen is. He has a career Save % of .912 and 14 shutouts to go along with it. That is not just potential. He is the real deal.

Also he has played 200 games in 4 seasons. Which averages to 50 games per season which is a decent number for a starter regardless of whether he has been injured, which Lehtonen has been during his career.

Atlanta haven't used him properly as well when Lehtonen is coming off an injury the coaches intend to over work him and start him in 95% of the next upcoming games. Which can't be good for a player with a fragile body (groin).

not to mention he had 49 saves on 50 shots against the caps earlier this year, and that one goal was on the last shot of the game after atlanta was leading 5-0

Big deal. Almost every goalie in the league has had a night like that this season. Including our 39 year old Roloson.
