Roy Article from the D&C

Roy welcomes his opportunity as an Amerk

Roy and Pominville get the opportunity to rekindle their early season magic:

Quote:
The Amerks will rely on Roy. While veteran Chris Taylor may very well be back on a line with his regular veteran wingers Jason Botterill and Norm Milley, Roy probably will have Jason Pominville on his right wing (as was the case in the playoffs) and rookie Thomas Vanek on the left.
Also should be interesting to see if either of them has a little spark with Vanek....

And encouraging at that, particularly if it should be Roy.

It'd be nice (and a bit of a reach) to see this trio click and then transition to the pro's as a quality scoring line. Considering how well Roy-Pominville did as a duo to start last season, Vanek should have the chance to utilize the skills we know he has---size, willingness to go to the net, quality shot even in traffic---and he'll have to pick up his defensive game if he's staying on LW with the system Cunneyworth plays.

With Miller in the fold, I really like the squad Regier/Gage have assembled.

There may be some outstanding offensive potentilal on that line, by question would be the +/-.

In the NHL yes, but in the AHL there wont be a line as dominating anywhere else, and if you're busy scoring how can they?

It's nice to see Roy isn't sulking this time.

It does look pretty strong top to bottom. Out of curiosity did Askey ever get signed?

While I agree that sounds like a great line the Vermette Spezza Langfeld line might have something to say about that.

How so? I doubt they'll line up against one another, so you can't mean in a shutdown sense.

And at no point did anyone put anything into this thread about "best" or something silly like that.

No need to get so defensive, my post was in response to this.

Its great to see Derek playing so well down there I hope him and Vanek accel together. It seems like both players styles could really compliment each other.
