he hasnt signed with teh Pens. and because he said he will play at elast one more year there (and teh Pens support that decision), they are in no rush to sign him, especially with the CBA ending. also, alst anyone heard, the team he is playing witih (forget how to spell the name), is trying to sign him to an extension.

Yeah, Metallurg Magnitogorsk wants to sign him to an extension.

I think this is the most recent article on the issue.

I didn't realise this!
Malkin has four years remaining on a contract he signed in 2003, but Magnitogorsk is trying to convince him to remain in Russia by upgrading the agreement.

I thought they were trying to sign him an extension off of 2 years!?I'm glad I traded the name Malkin!

I wouldn't really worry too much about Malkin staying in Russia. It is a bit unsettling now but he will end up here eventually, one way or another.

Didn't Malkin say at the draft that he has a clause in his contract that doesn't allow his russian team to interfere if he wants to goto the NHL?

Can he go to the NHL at anytime, or after the season is completed?

He can go when the price is right. CP mentioned something about Malkin not being ready this year. Another year of play in Russia, then talk turkey. I would imagine the CBA has to be worked out first.

When the CBA is finally signed, MarioCo should sign this guy. Don't care where he plays or if he even comes over here this year. As the clock ticks, his value goes up. It will be interesting to see if rookie deals aren't as sweet as they used to be.

In closing, sign this guy before he has to swim to america in the middle of the night.

How does the IIHF fit in or relate to the new CBA.

Currently, the IIHF has no deal with the NHL??
