Sweden, Finland to co-host 2012, 2013 WC's

Sweden and Finland will co-host both the 2012 and 2013 World Championships.

Also, they're working on getting all of Sweden's playoff games in Sweden both years.

So we're making the World Championships more like Euro Hockey Tour?

I'm not sure I like that idea.

Maybe more like Nordic Trophy?
Does this mean that Sweden and Finland cant be relegated either of these years?... at the rate we're going and with the many brilliant ideas ahead, we may want to watch out below.

Looks like a compromise to me. The Swedish hockey federation was more or less outraged when Finland got the 2012 tournament instead of Sweden (it was Sweden's "turn" as they were the country with the most years since they last hosted of the candidates).

A great compromise that is.

Now lets hope Norway and Sweden get to co-host the UEFA EURO 2016.

Final played on a renovated Ullevi, sure why not?

Would be cool, but there's a lot of stuff to solve if that's going to happen.

I hope they will place some games in Karlstad. I remember seeing Canada playing Germany here last time Sweden hosted the tournament. It was very much fun.

If both Sweden and Finland will host you think they will choose Karlstad as a venue?

Karlstad is a great venue for a IIHF WC group play. Linköping, Jönköping, Göteborg and Malmö are also good potential venues. Stockholm.. meh.

Sure, why not? They could place Norways group there (if they will have a team in that tournament) since it is close to Norway.

I think this is a good idea. That's how we get some more time to build new arena for Tampere. I think that palyoffs will be played in Finland at 2012 and 2013 playoffs will played at Sweden. Am i right?

Partially. They're working on getting all of Sweden's playoff games to be played in Sweden both years. Same with Finland, I guess.

As it turns out, this was suggested by Finnish hockey fed boss Kalervo Kummola. Which basically means that Swedes now owe us/him a favour.

The likeliest venues in Sweden are Stockholm and Malmö.

So Åland if Sweden and Finland meet each other.
