I want to see McGill and Lowry as assistant coaches.
I agree... or at least thought I did until I thought about it more... the way I see this is we need 4 assistant coaches... if any stay IMO it will be Cookson as what we believe is as a Video Coach... we also need a Goaltending Coach... I've seen McLennan's name thrown around a bit and I can't say that would be a bad thing as Noodles has watched Kipper closely as his backup for a couple season... that IMO leaves 2 spots... a defensive coach and a special teams coach... I don't see either being a special teams coach to be honest... I can't say I know alot about Lowry's coaching style but I do remember him as a player and I don't think he ever saw PP time lol... everything I have heard about McGill is he stresses defense first
I think we will see either McGill or Lowry as an assistant... but not both... unless one goes to the video room for now... I think we will see someone completely different as the special teams coach
That's more talent than Sutter has ever had, and it's as strong defensively if the UFA is the right one. Perhaps toss in another Glencross/Bourque type player as well up front.

Just wanted to point out you don't have to play on the PP to be a coach of the PP. I don't recall exactly but im sure Lowry must have put in some PK time in his NHL career. Being on the PK and having that kind of prospective can help coaching the PP. Reconizing what the different PK's are doing to you on a game to game basis can help bust an opponents PK strat. How you played in the NHL doesn't necessarily translate into what you can do as a coach. I think he could come in as a special teams coach.

I am well aware... which is why I made sure to say I don;t know anything about his coaching style besides his record and the incluence he had in 03/04 while injured and on the bench in a suit
Playfair has been offered the position to coach in Abbotsford, the other assistants won't return.
I missed alot in teh 6 minutes I missed lol... so Sutter is head coach... assistants are gone... Playfair offered Abbotsford position... any word on his assistants?

I would think McGill would be one of them. Playfair was offered the Head Coaching job in Abbotsford, where does that leave McGill?

Well, it hasn't been 100% confirmed. But feels if he's the right guy for the job, he'll do it.
Someone clarify this for me lol. I can't listen to the conference at work
Someone asked Sutter if he was a candidate for the head coaching job, he said right now he's the best candidate. Then he was asked if he can see himself coaching the Flames next season and he said yes.
4 head coaches being considered. 3 of them currently under contract, D. Sutter is the fourth
Sorry, I'm at work too and can't hear any audio on this junky computer. Is this what he announced? 4 being considered including himself, with the other 3 still under contract? If so, it sounds like he's keeping himself as a plan B, or I guess plan D option.
