we could be really good, actually
Not a very good analysis. You can tell they don't follow the 'yotes.

Actually its a sound analysis of the team from , as noted above, a somewhat removed point of view. Nothing earth shattering just telling it like it is.

Yes, the shift to wing is why Mueller had a bad season...

It's not like he spent most of the rookie season everybody was raving about playing on the wing.

No, it's missing the one reason why they faltered after the All-Star break:

1) They lack the organizational depth to fill in roster spots when their core players go down.

The Coyotes are a damn good team when they're healthy. However, as everyone saw, when some of their core players went to IR, they had no one to fill in.

I liked their trade market list of players, mostly because it didn't include any of the core!

Bingo! specifically when Sauer went down we lacked the necessary depth on D to carry us through. We were finding ways to win prior to that injury.

what are you talking about? Don't you know anything? Didn't you read the article?

Lots of depth at D. They had Hale whose tsn rating (62.58) was only 2.26 below Sauer, 2.74 below Z, and he may have come a little late, but Kalinin was rated 765.66 which puts him 700 pts ahead of Z...which I would guess is about 680 pts ahead of the likes of Lidstrom, Pronger, Neidermeyer, etc

But don't tell Scott Cullen at TSN that his rating system is flawed.....even if everyones ranking is based on 6 degrees of the better backup goalie of the LA Kings

It'd be nice if we could get an ownership group in that would make us a player in time for July 1. I don't think we need to make a splash, but assess needs in the same fashion Chicago did a year ago. We need an experienced, play-making centre and a mid-range defenceman.

The Sauer injury was our undoing, though I think our success to that date was a bit of smoke and mirrors. Hale was just plain brutal--we all saw that.

I had a chance to visit with Don Maloney about the Coyotes off season hockey activity. A refreshing change of pace from bankruptcy/sale/moving etc.

That's big news that neither Summers nor Goncharov will be on the Coyotes next year. Hadnt heard that for definite and I'm a bit disappointed as I expected one of them to make it.

I guess either Ahnelov or Ross will get a look-see at camp.
