Colorado has our 2nd?

I've never liked Wolski, so my biases here are squared. We need Halak, though. I can't remember if Avs fans are pro- or anti-Wolski, but I guess we'll find out quickly enough. I'm anti-Wolski for no good reasons, so I'd just as soon have Plekanec as him. But I'll be surprised if anybody else agrees with me there.

Colorado got MTL's 2nd from Calgary in the Tanguay deal.

As for the deal, it seem good to me, from an Avs point, except for Pleks.

Most Avs fans are pro-Wolski and think that he should stay with the team for at least 1 more year to see if he can reach his full potential. However, by bringing in a goalie like Halak I think that Avs fans would be willing to part with him.

The only problem is Pleks. Unless he can play wing the Avs have no use for him. With Stastny, possibly Sakic, and probably Duchene. Pleks would have to fight be a 3rd/4th line player. Colorado would definitely want a winger back instead, maybe Higgens

If the Avs (as expected) draft Duchene I would do this deal in a second. I would like to see Wolski stick around for one more year but getting Halak makes losing him worth it.

From a CO perspective, I'd probably do it. Pleks is probably too much payment and not what CO needs. I'd take Higgins rights instead.

I think a lot of habs fans are now set on re-signing higgins if im not mistaken, and his rights are actually worth something given that he is an rfa

I didn't say he was worthless, I said I'd take him (a 20 point scorer) over Pleks (a 40 point scorer). Mtl was probably giving too much anyways.

That's an interesting way to describe a 27-goal scorer a 70-point player, respectively.

Eh, not a fan of Halak but I guess it's a fairish deal.

As stated earlier most Avs fans would want to wait another year with Wolski. Of course, his value might be reduced by then depending on progress, or lack there of in his development (the window for which is closing rapidly).

Edit: Also, we have your 2nd as part of the Leopold deal with Calgary.

I rather give another year to Wolski. He has the biggest upside of anyone in this proposal, and for an organization in its rebuilding stages, upside has the most value.

Nothing wrong with Wolski but I would never do this deal for the Habs. We're weak at center, Price is still developing. Wolski doesn't really fix any glaring weaknesses but by giving away Plekanec and Halak, we create other problems. If you're going to trade Plekanec, make sure to get a center in return.

Wolski's a natural center and plays better in the role than at wing.

Don't really need Plekanecs since we have Stastny and most likely Duchene as the top 2 for years to come. Not to mention others like Galiardi and Hensick.

Value wise it's pretty good.

I wouldn't mind Halak, but not at the price of Wolski.

Maybe Halak and Carle for Wolski and Salei.

you mean this Plekanec -- 20/19/39 in 80 games last year? Or the 12/11/23 Higgins last year? what exactly is interesting about quoting their stats? Should I only mention players best years around here?

Here, hows about we trade you Marek Svatos, a 32 goal scorer by your definition, for your 27 goal scorer Higgins!

How many games did Higgins play in this bad season of his (and which line did he spend most of the season on)? Please enlighten me.
