Pheonix-New Jersey

Nicklas Bergfors
Jay Pandolfo
Anssi Salmela

Ed Jovonaski

REASONS- Coyotes: They get Jovo's salary off the books, and get two prospects who could probably step onto their roster right now. Pandolfo comes back as a salary purpose, and could be a veteran on a young team.

Devils: They get a big, puck-moving defenseman

Phoenix needs to hit the cap minimum next year and Jovo is a huge piece that allows them to do that.

Ignoring the current off-ice disruptions, Phoenix short-term issue is depth on blueline; especially if Goncharov elects to stay one last year in Russia and Summers elects to play his last year of NCAA.

This doesn't make any sense. The Yotes need to keep Jovo because of his cap hit?! Trust me, they can find short term cap-unfriendly contracts if they want them. Take Michael Nylander. Merry Christmas.

If trading Jovo improves their team in the net, then they do it and worry later on about defensive depth and/or trading a 7th rounder for some veteran on the last year of a big contract. Hell, Colorado will give the Yotes Brett Clark or Ruslan Salei for a bag of pucks. In fact, they might well give them both players for that same bag of pucks. Depth problems: Solved! Cap floor concerns: Solved!

The obvious flaw in the proposal is that one of the players proposed plays for another team now.

What? You don't make any sense. How does Bergfors and Pandolfo improve our team in net? By the way, Jovanovski is basically the only power play weapon we have. Also, saving money isn't the ONLY priority in Phoenix. Winning is crucial. Trading Jovanovski for a old, over priced, fourth liner and a borderline prospect would ensure our fate as a lottery team, yet again, next summer. Forget salary, this deal sucks for Phoenix because we lose a really good veteren defenseman, and get a bunch of crap in return.

you make a good point regarding the coyotes needs. They NEED TO WIN to stay in the desert, or they will be bound for Hamilton/Winnipeg/KC/LV. Winning will drastically increase revenue and popularity, and hopefully turn the team into a long term success. However, considering the teams financial issues, they are going to be really strapped for cash and stuck at the bottom end of the salary cap, which makes even harder for the team to become competitive. Even with one of the best prospect pools in the NHL, the coyotes may still end up sailing ship somewhere else. I could even see them turning into the Quebec/Av's version two, where the team moves and becomes competitive in their very first year.

No thank you! With Rolston already being overpaid, i dont want more overpaid players on the devils. Also as was said before, Anssi was sent to ATL to get Havelid for the playoff jog : (
