I concur with your statement 100%, dredeye. It's funny how some people just pop into a thread, post w/o quoting, and apparently don't bother to stick around long enough to answer anyone who chooses to challenge them in any way.
At least I periodically re-check the threads I've recently posted in to see if there've been any new posts added.
Btw, what are your thoughts on my proposal? I'm curious to know.

It's definately good I'd just rather hold onto Frattin if possible. If he could be swapped for Aubin I'd be happier. But overall not bad at all.

I could deal with swapping Frattin for Aubin as Aubin has more professional experience than Frattin. (Now that I think of it, both Frattin and Aubin are listed as right wingers.)
I'd even consider Chad Rau instead of Frattin considering Rau is actually a center, despite it depleting our own prospect pool at the center position, only because I don't see Burke signing Rau (due to his size).
Perhaps I should re-work my proposal.

i think the leafs might do that, but maybe instead of Cormier add henrick, whichever one is better.
I could see the Leafs doing it, but I can't see the Devils doing it. The Devils are currently pretty low on higher-quality center prospects with Cormier and Henrique being rated 1st and 2nd respectively. The Devils can't afford to give up either of these two youngsters right now.
Also, the Devils seem to be having some cap trouble right now. In any trade they make, they need to send out more coin than what they bring in. The deal you quoted doesn't do that for them, nor does it return a young center (roster player or prospect) that they would require.
Why would NJ put any sort of value on Matt Frattin? If they need another center they don't want a prospect who may or may not even play in the NHL.
How about this:
To NJ:
Tomas Kaberle
Matt Stajan
To TOR:
1st Round 2009
Patrice Cormier
Jay Pandolfo
That's too much cap-hit for the Devils to handle right now. Plus, Cormier is their best center prospect right now. The Devils won't likely give up Cormier or Henrique.

Do you NJ fans think that the Devils should resign Gionta, Madden, Rupp, Havelid, Oduya, Greene and one of Weekes/Clemmensen? I'm assuming Zajac and Vrana are locks to be resigned and Holik and Shanahan are gone.

The Devils don't have to worry about re-signing Havelid or Holik. Havelid went back to Europe and Holik has apparently retired a few days ago.
As to Shanahan... who knows? He may want to come back for one more year.

Not enough coming back to Toronto. Kaberle for a first and Cormier would be a borderline offer, leaving aside the fact that we give up Stajan and take on Pandolfo's contract, which has negative value.
I agree that NJ would have no interest in Frattin or Rau though.

Personally I want oduya, gionta, greene, zajac, and weekes thats it rupp maybe for the league minimum as a healthy scratch type player
Actually rethinking it I like the deal I just made with Henrique...honestly Henrique and Cormier are almost the same player except that Cormier is more physical and imo is a better fit on the devils... I'm also gonna add in Salvador and replace the 3rd rounder with a 2nd rounder so this is my final offer
NJD
Zubrus
Pandolfo
1st 09
2rd 09
Henrique
Salvador
TOR
Kaberle
Stajan
4th 09
You guys ending up taking on around 2-2.5 in extra cap space which would have probably just been cancelled out when Stajan resigned in a year

Hey Grabo, what would you suggest to fix my proposal? I'm curous to know.
It's possible that something like this coming back to the Leafs could work.
Check out my edited proposal and tell me what you think of it. I'm curious to know.
yea your original proposal wasnt too bad the only thing is that if we're giving up a 1st and a 2nd then I'd probably wanna shed some more salary by adding pandolfo

I think Stajan for Pandolfo is a good deal. Stajan can be the #2-#3 center for NJ. He is still young and is becoming a decent two way player. Pandolfo is older yes and he has a bigger contract but he would be a great character player to teach our young forwards how to play defense properly and work the PK.

Interesting.....
As I've stated before, I don't think NJ would be willing to give up Henrique. I also don't really see the point of taking Salvador when the Leafs are probably about to bring up Stralman to take Kaberle's place (unless, of course, Stralman isi also traded away somewhere else).
As to the 4th rndr in '09, I don't believe the Leafs have one at the moment.

Wasn't that what Jamal Mayers was supposed to be? If you talk to NJ fans, they haven't been too impressed with his play lately. They would love to get rid of that contract for free, let alone getting a decent young player in return. I don't really like Stajan, but there's no need to waste assets like that.

I honestly think Cormier is the better player than Henrique and they'll probably end up fighting for the same roster position in the future so I'd rather get rid of Henrique and that 4th rounder can be taken out of the deal...I included salvador just cause he's a veteran dman at a slightly to expensive contract who could maybe help be a mentor in toronto...worst case scenario you waive him and have him do the same thing in the minors
