From A Blackhawk Fan At Game 5

Some of you (if you were at the game) may have run into four funny looking Blackhawks fans running around with feathers and war paint last night. Well, that was me and my friends. (We were also on VS and ESPN last night )

Anyway, the point of this thread is to just give thanks and praise to the Detroit fans who made our visit to Joe Louis Arena (from New Jersey actually) an absolute blast. The Red Wings fans were fun and friendly and made the game (which was great in itself) even more enjoyable to be a part of.

So here's to you fans who know your hockey, and who can win with dignity and respect for people on the other side. Thank you very, very much!! Go Wings!

JR

p.s.- DO NOT LET SIDNEY CROSBY TOUCH THAT CUP!

My encounters at the UC are usually not too pleasant.

Really, honestly I was expecting mine not to be, of course I got harassed a little bit, but for the most part Hawk fans were actually very friendly and it was a fun enviroment to be in, I cna't wait to go back hopefully sometime next season.

Now Ohio Stadium, thats a whole other beast, being a U of M fan obviously. At some points, I honestly was fearing for my life(not exaggerating). Ohio St fans are brutal, and as wild as any fan, for any genre of sports get and not in a good way. Good thing I had about 10 other buddies with me.

Was that for football or hockey? Worst I've seen were some guys catcalling a guy wearing a San Jose Sharks jersey at the Joe which degenerated into a quasi melee).

I've heard stories of this (fan intimidation) at Bronco's or Raiders games but nothing too bad in hockey.

Yeah I went to the Joe for my first playoff game on Wednesday (drove from NY). I was in a Hawks shirt and hat and no one bothered me at all. I was kinda surprised when the lady handed me a Wings towel after I walked in. It was a good experience, the Joe's a nice place. What stood out the most I think was the sheer number of banners hanging from the ceiling.

I do not wear visiting a jersey in the home rink, but have found only gentle ribbing in anaheim, LA, San Jose and Vancouver. Toronto was fun, BUT those losers scared me a bit.

Football is the WORST. I won't even go to a Raider game IN San Diego (though major props to the team for weeding about 50% of the idiots out of the crowd). I went to a game in Philly.... NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN. I did not think it was possible for fans to be more poorly behaved than Raider fan, but Philly fan opened my eyes to a near dead heat of idiocy.
