Flyers to sign Ray Emery

Reported today by CSNPhilly's Tim Panaccio

http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landi...999&feedID=695

Quote:
Barring a collapse in negotiations, the Flyers are expected to sign Ray Emery as their starting goalie for next season.

Several general managers at the Stanley Cup Final consider the matter a “done deal.” Emery was Ottawa’s property until released by the Senators last June.

I'm not sure that it would be a good move for the Flyers.

I hope Ray does well again in the NHL. I still think he was the scapegoat in Ottawa.

I can see it happening, but what would they do with their current goalies? Dump Niittymaki and keep Biron as backup or what?

Kind of doubt he'd be brought in to definitely be their #1. If he earns it after a strong camp in a real battle then sure but I'd have to think Philly will be bringing in some hefty competition otherwise.

I love how the Flyers always have a new goalie every few years and that new goalie is always one of the most mediocre goalies in the entire league.

Unless something has radically changed, this will be yet another average goalie who can go on some good runs. Strange, Ray seems better suited to Colorado.

Good luck with this. Gonna be an interesting ride.

I would assume that Biron probably goes to Colorado now.

Knowing Holmgren it'll be 4.5m for 10 years with a NMC.

Emery is only a good move if you sign JayBo as well. JayBo + Emery >>>> Biron.

I would not go as far as saying he was the scapegoat. He did atleast from reports have some issues on and off the ice.I aslo think some media did not help and played things up a bit to much.

What would be the odds on a Carcillo vs. Emery dustup in practice sometime during the year?
