there's no need to give up Purcell/ 35th overall to move up 2 spots in a draft that i'm pretty sure DL will be happy to select any of the top 6-8 players. considering that Hedman and Tavares are the first two choices.....DL still has Schenn, Cowen Duchene, Svensson, Kane....

I don't think Smyth would get you Johnson. Let alone a 2nd on top of that.

He really hasn't. Where the hell do people get this idea? I watch all 82 King games, multiple times. He has never been the Kings' best defenseman for more than a game at a time. Even before doughty and KQ.

I'd say in 07-08 he was our second best defenseman behind Stuart and at times was better than Stuart for short stretches, and after Stuart was traded, Johnson was the best.

Most of that though is attributable to how friggen miserable our D was that year.

Did you see the game where he nearly decapitated Ryan Smyth? That was pretty cool.

Doughty was clearly better than most, if not all, of the Kings defensemen last season. That says more about Doughty than it does about Johnson. Johnson was also injured for the first 41 games of the year.

That said, he still has a ways to go to justify where he was taken in the draft.

You're kidding. I realize Johnson is a heck of a prospect, but what has he proved?

In LA he will get top PP minutes if he pulls his head out and stops taking bonehead chances 5-on-5.
