Absolutely horrible proposal. Neither of those players would be suitable for the Ducks top 6. The 3.5 million in salary saved is nice, but we're basically giving Giguere away for free.
Plus Giguere has a NMC and wants to stay in Anaheim. You should make your offers for Hiller, it's more realistic.
J.S. Giguere is finished, the guy is the least athletic goaltender in the NHL and the only way he can get by is with a defence that can clear every rebound for him and does not allow any cross ice passing. Although the avs defence is actually very under-rated and possibly borderlinetop 10 in the league, I don't think they can perform these duties for Giguere the same way Anaheim's defence has in the past.
The horrible salary is just another strike against him.

It's a horrible proposal...but not for the Ducks. They would do this in a heartbeat. If the Ducks are planning to have Hiller take over the reigns, and if Giguere would waive his NMC, then they'd be dumb not to make this deal. Why would you want to keep a $6million backup goaltender on your roster when you could get two NHL level players and high 2nd rounder back? I'm just not sure that Anaheim could get a whole lot more for Giguere given his contract than they would get here.
The Ducks aren't going to give up on Giguere after one poor season. Hiller is a great goalie, but so is Giguere and he's more established in Anaheim. It's true the Ducks cant keep both goaltenders past next season, so one will be dealt and it should be Hiller.
That being said that deal is still **** for anaheim because they don't need either of those players, one is a 3rd/4th liner and the other a small, mediocre 2nd line RW.
Murray hangs up the phone on this deal.
If Colorado wants an Anaheim goaltender start talking Hiller for Wolski and maybe you'll get somewhere.
