J.Staal for Pacioretty, Weber, 1st rounder

Think the Pens would be willing to make this move in order to make room on their cap?

Pretty good deal. Pac is a winger right?

Well it's better than the Leaf offers ,This isn't too bad MaxPac the guy I'd want from the Canadiens (as long as he promises not to fight anymore).Weber would be stuck behind Goligoski, Letang and Gonchar so would be in WBS for the foreseeable future and is another smaller offensive defenseman. I think the first is probably too low and Weber not really the type of prospect we need for the Pens to do this.

Probably, Staal has proven alot more than Max and is only two months older. Weber and a mid first seems like a decent way to fill the gap.

If I'm PIT, I'd only trade Staal for a proven winger, or a great prospect. Filatov or N. Horton. Somthing along that line.

A little OT, but I think Gionta would look great on one of PIT's top lines. Should be cheap too.

Gionta got 4 mill last year, no reason to think it would change a whole lot. Thats a big portion of cap space

Right now yes but at the end of next season, it would be seen as overpayment IMO. Pac and Weber will be with the team all year it seems so their value will be a lot higher.

Value wise it's good, but it wouldn't be in Montreal's best interest.

Seems like a lot to give up for the Habs at this point, if they were giving that up it should be for a more established offensive player.

That said, the Penguins have no use for a guy like Weber. They already have a better version in Letang.

Not a bad trade value wise. Both teams are taking some risk with the cornerstones of the deal.

I think Weber is promising, but the Pens would much rather have a defenseman cut from a different mold.

I honestly think that Ray Shero is willing to swallow the 4 million dollars. That 1-2 punch of Kennedy-Staal the past 2 years has been one of the best 3rd lines I've seen in a long time.

They just need to draft better and start making some smart signings.

no from the pens. staal is too important to the pens.

those mtl guys have not proven much and may never do so. staal is 20 and has been an integral part of back to back cup finalists.

I'd keep Pacioretty, Weber, and our 1st pick (also Draft is in Mtl). Way too much for J.Staal. IMO, if we added a 2nd Rnd pick we may get ERIC STAAL!!

I like J.Staal, but...I may really like Pacioretty, Weber and our 1st pick EVEN MORE!!

And, way too soon to write this, but...one day (sooner than later) Pacioretty and J.Staal may have close to the same value (they just play different positions is all). Emphasis on the word may for now (wouldn't want to be known as a cocky Hab fan! ).

Pacioretty (imo) was a steal as a late First Rounder..imo he should/could have been picked up in top 12 or top 15 of that Draft. Future power forward (already has some NHL experience).

How's this instead...D'Agostini + Weber for J.Staal??? (no 1st rnd pick)

By that token, any prospect ever might as well be worthless in a trade because they may never prove anything either.

Montreal says no way to this. We desperately need players exactly like what Pacioretty and Weber would bring if they tap their full potential. Why trade them?

cus they have no future down the middle.

Plekanec, who proved he needs a superstar winger in order to produce.

Ben Maxwell, may be good but once again, a 5'9 centre isnt so promising.

Lapierre, great 3rd line centre.

Chipchura, future 2-way 3rd line centre.

So you create arguably three holes to fix one. Not sure if that really helps.

Tsn.ca and Montréal's site say he's 6'1, but I've seen him on hockeydb at 6 and 185 and the other two have him at 6'1 177.

Hamilton's site has him at 6'0 195, so it's hard to say... but you get the general area as to his size and weight.
