Boyle or Purcell, Preissing, 2nd round pick for Smyth.
You think we really would have to give up a second for Smyth, I don't know maybe a 4th and Priessing

Smyth sucks. DL is going to probably go for someone younger now that Justin Williams is in the fold, and atleast he has a Stanley Cup ring. Briere is too small and injury prone, these rumors get more retarded everyday.

4th and Preissing. . . Smyth is a guy that has had 7 seasons with 25+ goals. . That in it's self is not worth Preissing and a 4th. Not to mention all the grit he brings to the game. He might be one of the best guys in front of the net. . right up there with Holmstrom.

I agree with this. People here are taking off with extreme Smyth hate and I don't know why. He'd be near the bottom of my list for big name pick-ups but I'd give up way more than a 4th and Preissing for him if we couldn't land anyone else. Zatkoff, Purcell, Preissing, and a 3rd is a more realistic package IMO. Like I said though, I would look at most other options before I considered him.

Obviously the Avs are rebuilding and moving a salary like his would be welcomed in Denver. He does have a NTC, but may be willing to waive it if he thinks the team is a good fit. I'm fairly familiar with your team, and think you would benefit from having another hard nosed guy like Smyth.

So who would the Kings be willing to move to make this deal? The Avs are hard-pressed for goalie prospects and LA is likely the deepest team in that regard...

What about someone like Quick or Bernier? Are Kings fans prepared to deal either one of those guys?

Jack Johnson has also been mentioned as coming the other way...would a deal like Johnson for Smyth be something the Kings may do?
i tell you was i think...

you guys keep Smyth and his 6.2 Mill for 57 Points
and we draft whatever we need.

But what about Armstrong + Calder for Wolski???

I would rather have Frolov than Smyth. Nothing against Smyth, but Frolov is already familiar with our team, is younger, and has shown loyalty the organization his whole career. He played injured most of the season and still put up consistent numbers.

Unless I am mistaken I believe people are talking about adding Smyth with Frolov not instead of.

i talked about this is the trade section and ill say it again:

Smyth is a great, gritty player. He would work well for us. But this makes no sense at all. This would be diverting from what we have done for the past 4+ years. Smyth would be good for a year or 2, but thats not what we are looking for.

We want players to grow with this team. We want the same core players in 5 years from now... adding a 33-34 year old could speak trouble.

Like i said before, this is a deal you make at the trade deadline when you feel you could win the cup that year... not a trade you make when you are a few years away from being a cup contender..

Absolutely. He's old and broken down, the Kings are far from adding that final piece type of player that Smyth is and he would NEVER waive his NTC to come to LA.

that's more important than anything else. Hockey aside, Ryan is not an LA sort of lad.

I think it's a very safe assumption from this point forward that any player who has a NTC might as well not even be discussed in possible trades to LA. In fact, has any player ever waived their NTC to come to LA?

I disagree with you quite a bit but not in this situation. I'd add him if we weren't giving up much but...

Roenick??

Quote:
Roenick was an obvious choice because he will earn $4.94 million this season. The 35-year-old center waived his no-trade clause to return to the West Coast.

I think all this talk of Briere and Smyth is being leaked by the Kings' brass to force TB's hand in the Vinny talks..... IMO.
