If this is true...

And the Sens decide to accommodate Heatly, this doesn't have to be a bad thing.

The Sens are re-shaping their team and a big trade chip like that could certainly afford them some pretty sweet purchasing power. Besides, his exit would free up cap space and just allow them a lot more flexiblity with their young club.

I think Marleau for Heatley would be a decent trade, but the Senators have some term locked up in some centers. Fishers, Spezza, Kelly. And they're trying to re-sign Comrie. I don't know if this gets done just because Heatley wants it to.

Depending on how late the first is, they could get a little more.
No, they'll get a lot. He's 28, signed to a long-term contract, and he's a proven 40 (and 50) goal scorer. Even though he's rumoured to have demanded a trade, teams will be chomping at the bit to get a talented LW like Heatley.

I'll be shocked if he ISN'T moved by July 1st....so the Senators can open up room for a free-agent D.

Maybe someone else has it on DVR, but pretty sure those were the exact words. It was right at the end of his segment.

Anyone who missed it on NHL Network can tune in again later at around 5:30 EDT to hear it again for themselves.
I won't lie - this is the biggest and possibly the best news the Sens could get right now.

Let the bidding war begin.

Choice of Cogliano or #10.
Choice Souray Visnovsky or Gilbert
Choice of Brule, Schremp, Pouliot.

Either way we'd offer a very good young player, a top pairing defenceman, and a boom or bust recovery project.

I'm glad his actual salary is 10 Million as that is no problem for Daryl Katz. Will likely eliminate alot of teams.

Did you think Pronger asking to be traded was BS?

Actually, not really. Damn, I've had this forever.

This is great though. 7.5 million off the books and the sky should be the limit for what we can get back.

I think 5 years at $7.5M is actually a bad contract in todays financial climate. He's a really good player but that contract isn't an amazing value by any stretch.

Did you read the article?

Did you read Bryan Murrays comment?

It didnt say "this is news to me"........Murray made an actual comment regarding this situation that implies he knows of this.

It didn't sound like a rumor, EJ Hradek reported it as something that has happened, not something he heard.

NHLPA says Heatley makes $10 mil, is that true? Yikes. Who in the west could afford to take that on that has the assets to make that deal work? I thought he was closer to $8.

He had 40 goals on a BAD season! How many players in the league have 40 goals on a bad season?

The Wild offer:

09 1st
PMB
Kim Johnsson
Rights to Gaborik

*edit* PMB and Johnsson might be too much of a cap hit. Replace either one with any prospect + anything below a 1st next year.
