That's definitley true.

That said, he's not coming to Calgary. We don't have the cap space to make something like this work unless Phaneuf gets dealt... and as much as he's the newest whipping boy on HF... he's not getting dealt.

I think he ends up in Edmonton personally.

Just have a vibe.

I honestly think a Campbell for Heatley swap could be a possibility considering the contracts of both.

Heatley wanting to play for NYI, I highly doubt that.

Not sure about that, but insisting that whatever team takes Heatley must also take Smith and Kelly wouldn't be a bad idea.

Agreed. Why not go for Hossa on July 1 instead?

Edler, Grabner, 1st for Heatley

Sens get a potential top pairing D, great prospect, and a 1st rounder. Save some cap space to add some more pieces.

Considering Brown's contract, that is an insanely huge overpayment IMO. I think 2 of those assets + something small gets it done. All 3 is just an epic overpayment that not going to occur based on Heatley's contract.

Done.

Both teams prosper.

Small change since that would give Ottawa too many high paid centers
Add Fisher to Tampa and Malone to Ottawa and a second round pick

Done and done = ]

Not a bad idea if you're willing to take back Gomez and Rozsival.

Makes by far the most sense out of anything proposed in this thread so far.

The something else has to be something decent, though, I would think. Maybe they also throw Schremp in there, too?

Gagne can score 40 goals, makes 2 mil less, and actually plays defense. Why on Earth would the Flyers trade him for Heatley?

You're insane. The Kings aren't going to trade their Captain, the 5th and a promising high drafted 22 year old dman who hasn't had the chance to prove himself. Like I said before, JJ, #5, a prospect and maybe another pick (but a 2nd or 3rd). I think that's giving a LOT, but Heatley IMO is worth it.

Well, no Dany Heatley for you then obviously.

Heatley is grittier and not 1 concussion from being retired

Heater is a 50+ goal scorer twice and surpassed 40 four times. You have got to give to get. If Heatley is coming in, Burns is going out. We don't have anyone else they'd want.

I'm a huge Heatley fan, but Burns is one of my favorites as well. So I'd rather not lose him. Just to get a baseline:

Burns + Harding(signed at $2.5M) for Heatley

A player that demanded a trade usually doesn't get you a fair value back. Remember Pronger? Gretzky? Bure?

Believe me there is no way Heatley fetches a trade like that.
Some people need a reality check.

I'm sure the Oilers would gladly take Smith and Kelly if it got Healtley in a Oiler uniform.

Q: What NHL team did you grow up cheering for?

A: Growing up in Calgary, when I was really young I was a big Flames fan. Then later on, I started to like the St. Louis Blues. I was a big Brett Hull fan. They had some pretty good teams around that time.
