No one but Detroit will get him. And if he doesn't play for Detroit and becomes a UFA, only one team will get him.

In fact, Murray should wait until July 3rd and then up his price again for Heatley.

If I was a Sens fan I'd be thrilled ! Nice to know that your best player doesn't want to be on your team...

You're filling LA's needs without filling Ottawa's. They've already got 8 dmen under contract for next year and are in the position to compete for the division title. A disgruntled Heatley will get them closer to their goal than JJ and MPS or Kane would for the next couple seasons.

Brown and the #5 or it's not worth it for Ottawa.

Vancouver doesn’t have the prospects or young assets to entice Ottawa to deal Heatley to Vancouver.

To get Heatley a 50 goal 100 pt man in normar year and at only 28 years, it would take a good young NHL player, a bluechip prospects with high potential, and a top lottery pick.

Sharks and Senators are perfect trading partners, Heatley will be manning Thornton's left wing at the start of the season.

I'm a huge Heatley fan, but Burns is one of my favorites as well. So I'd rather not lose him. Just to get a baseline:

Burns + Harding(signed at $2.5M) for Heatley
Right, that's why I preficed what I said by saying there is no way I can come up with a deal that is fair.

You mean 3rd best player.

And people really think Heatley is gritty? He's soft as can be.

Thats nice and all, but his NMC sort of stops bidding wars in their tracks.

I'd be shocked if whatshisname in Ottawa gets equal value...I'd be stunned actually

Q: What NHL team did you grow up cheering for?

A: Growing up in Calgary, when I was really young I was a big Flames fan. Then later on, I started to like the St. Louis Blues. I was a big Brett Hull fan. They had some pretty good teams around that time.

notice how he said he was a big flames fan and a big hull fan and he STARTED to like St. Louis... thats exactly what I was saying... I was a big Fleury fan and as a result I ended up starting to like other teams he played for

why not look to Pitt

Staal and Goligoski for Heatley ...there is the winger for Crosby. ...shame Pitt would be hard pressed to get him under the cap

...to be honest, I think Heatley is worth more, but, this could turn out to be a good trade.

Just have a vibe.

I honestly think a Campbell for Heatley swap could be a possibility considering the contracts of both.
That's homerism talking to you, don't listen to it.

How quickly people forget about the salary cap.

Sorry, but a team isn't going to trade a top player, blue chip prospect (ex: Brassard) AND a high pick when they can hold onto a guy like Brassard on an entry level contract.

Honestly, what makes most sense to me is a trade with L.A involving a top prospect and top 6 forward. Murray wouldn't trade him for a 1st as the centerpeice, and I doubt he'll do a star for star trade.
Hey look, it's wishful thinking because I kind of want Marleau gone, but I don't think it merits a HHAHAHAH.

Marleau played left wing most of last year and had pretty much identical numbers as Heatley, with a much better +/- that's where I'm coming from. Unless the Sens want to make more drastic changes, you've still got a top line left wing.

The only reason this even comes up is due to 2 teams needing to trade players that are difficult to trade due to contract clauses and high salaries.

The difference between this and the Jumbo Joe trade is that Thornton didn't ask to be traded, he was blindsided.

The return for Heatley can't be a bunch of plumbers. It'll be something like the return that got Heatley to Ottawa in the first place. (Hossa) So either somebody will offer something huge on draft day, or Heatley will be left twisting in the wind for quite awhile until Murray finally gets an offer he likes.

Hey, Burke has incentive... What about Heatley for TO's 1st overall ++ ? Or does Ottawa not want to deal with TO?

Hehe perhaps Pens fans won't mind to get a nice winger for Crosby... For something like Staal, Scuderi, and Kunitz...

The TSN article says he wants to go out West. And no way would Ottawa deal him within the division.
