-sign emery at 1.5/1 year
-sign boucher for 500,000-650,000
-waive jones (or give him the keys to emery's lambo and tell him to drive as far as possible)
-move salary player of your preference (lupul, carle, briere, everyone wants one of them gone)
-get J-Bo

if the end game is emery and a grade A number one defenseman coming in, i'm backing homer on this one. the more i think about it, the less it bothers me. i haven't seen a stanley cup in my lifetime. i haven't seen finals birth since i was 9 years old. **** it, roll the dice.

Homer's job is not on the line - no matter what. Nor should it be.

And you might be surprised by how good Emery is going to be.....

Homer did a bang up job and is paying the price... I think we have to look at this on the long haul. As the Cap situation becomes more clear and there is a history to base things on, I believe the ship will be righted... The Cap level and the salary structure is still in a state of flux. IMO, the NHL will either correct matters and even out the salaries or have to fight for their life... After seeing how GM has fallen, I am now ready to be prepared for anything; Pipers must be paid.

I've paraded down Broad Street with them twice... no feeling like it on Earth.

As long as Emery keeps his nose clean and doesn't take the team down with him, I am okay for a season... Especially if Homer can bring in a stud on, even at the cost of the Forward depth, and Stevens can install a team concept D system that will allow a B-Tier goalie with talent to get away with ups and downs... But Sugar Ray must play for the Flying 'P'.

Smart signing. Emery will play well, and it'll be entertaining at the same time.

Glad my favourite goaltender is back in the NHL.

Deja Vu all over again... Only now it's with the Sens fans and Emery rather than the Slug fans and Biron. LOL

Boucher made 650K this past season. I'm sure he could find a place to pay him a little more.

If salaries rise and the Cap doesn't, many players will be squeezed out... There has to come a point where the players sign for the same level contract or even take a cut. Somehow that will have to be translated to the top tier players... if not it will have to be done for them en mass. Just IMO.

probably because emery doesn't play for another NHL team so it's not tampering just a formality of waiting for signing period to start.

Yeah... I don't know who changed that to 10:00... I had it originally as the correct time. Oh well.

EDIT: I see it has been corrected... Much thanks.

Edit: Actually, the email just said there was going to be an announcement. I thought they couldn't officially announce anything with Emery until July 1st?

Apparently, the NHL frowns on major roster moves announced the days of games during the NHL Finals. So, it can't be announced today but can between Game 6 and a possible Game 7.

My guess is the Emery thing is pure conjectured based on the press conference announcement and the rumors... It could very well be another "major announcement".

It could be buried amid the Red Wings celebration news.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was "Fire Stevens", but that's not going to happen.

I'm torn on the move. I really liked Biron and thought he was a fine goaltender for this team if we improved our defense. Emery definently has the talent to win, but can he keep it together. Here's hoping he can. This team seems to be very sensitive to things that 'disrupt' the chemistry and I just hope this doesn't turn into a circus.

Actually the Flyers are going to announce that they found a loophole that will allow them to take Brad Lidge off their Cap.

I really hope it is more then Emery, the way they say it...MAJOR implies that its something we dont know.

To me the emery signing is about as major as the signing of Ossi last year.
