Yeah I would like this deal as a sens fan, but it needs adjustment:

-Remove the pick, Ottawa sends back a 2nd
-Ottawa would need to take back salary in the form of a bottom 6 player or two

It gets slightly easier for Duck fans to handle, but even then, they're so nuts about the kid that I doubt they do that anyway.

I think we need another Ducks fan to turn this down.

Not just any Ducks fan, Randall Graves needs to come shed some light on this matter

I like it for Ottawa but for Anaheim it'd be tough. Ryan is good getting better and his salary is very attractive. Ottawa might have to also send a Regin type prospect back??

Heh. Heatley + 2nd for Ryan and a salary dump?

How about Perry + 2nd for Foligno and Smith?

*edit* for the record, I wouldn't do that deal if I were the ducks either, if only for the cap hit. Though Heater and Getzlaf together are lights out... Actually, it'd be tough.

You've never watched Ryan play have you? Also keep in mind he's still on his ELC and years away from UFA.

I'm just throwing ideas out there bud, relax. To me it looks like the basic frame work of a deal surrounding these two players would work.

I think if a deal like this was proposed a year ago or so Ducks fans would have been all over it. I'm a big fan of both players... I think Anaheim would benefit greatly by adding a proven sniper, even if the cap hit is large. As for Ryan, sure he's looking like a brilliant pick these days, but the Ducks could sell high to acquire an All Star.

no way anaheim makes this deal. not only are they going to be looking to save cap space to attempt and resign UFAs pronger and the nieder' bros, bobby ryan has the potential to be a dynamic and prolific a scorer just as good as heatley. lets face it, the only big splash the ducks are making this offseason is going to be getting rid of one their goalies. if leclaire wasnt scooped up by the sens last year, i would have suggested to you to throw in giggy going back the other way.

The point of this is that the Ducks dont re-sign Niedermayer and he goes elsewhere. Therefore they cut 6.75 in Nieds salary, but then gain in back when they acquire Heatley. So in reality they're not gaining 6M in cap space.

I really dont think the pick is needed since Heatley comes with a 7 mill caphit

Hey Ducks fans, you do know that Ryan may have just had a good rookie season that's impossible to replicate. Like Teemu's 56 goals.

Yeah Ducks fans seem to be really jacked up about this kid. I too loved what i saw from him this past year, but they are talking like he will for surely be a consistent 40+ goal threat. I do think he benefitted from playing with two of the best players in the entire league in Perry and Getzlaf...

I will admit the kid impressed me and i wish the Avs had a FW prospect as talented as this kid, but saying he's a younger, more powerful version of Heatley may be slightly premature. Once again, im not bashing the Ducks at all...

Agreed. I don't think people realize Bobby Ryan played on the fourth line half the season and played on the 2nd PP unit.

Ryan - Carter - Parros was the line... and it was semi-dangerous.

Ryan played very very well. I was damn impressed with him. But, inductive reasoning doesn't always work out when it comes to players. It has been proven time and again that players can have a good year and then not do much. So while the kid is good, it is not a fact that he will continue at this rate.

I'd rather have a cheap, tough, Ryan than a soft Heatley.
...I doubt Ryan will ever score as many goals, but I also doubt Ryan will float around as much as Heatley does

Sens are going to be forced to trade for $$ ...ala a Smyth, or a Drury.

Drury would actually be a very nice player/fit for the Sens team ...no, he wont score like a Heatley, but he'll do plenty of things Heatley never will, like hustle, and play hard and lead a team by example!

Or like Dany Heatleys 50 goals?

Well, Heatley himself has got a lot of work to do to justify that 7.5M cap hit. 72 points will not cut it.

Doesn't make sense for the Ducks. If Heatley didn't make so much money I could see them possibly doing this deal, but if we are going to give up 6M in cap, I would rather try to sign Gaborik or something and lose no assets.
