Kind of OT but Dave Tippett was fired from Dallas today, there's another coach I would absolutely love to see behind the Flames bench.
I agree Tippett would be solid. Are Brent Sutter and Tippett two of the three that Sutter referred to being under contract? Tippett would probably be a better choice than Brent Sutter... better in playoffs etc.

I would rather see Tippett personally... I do not want Sutter behind our bench

If anything, I actually want Tippet to be the HC of the Flames.

PROS:
He's a defesive style coach that can mentor Phaneuf into a solid two-way D-Man.
Since he's defensive minded it'll seem like Darryl Sutter is behind the bench again.

Cons
His style of play is boring as hell.
He has no faith in inexperienced back-ups. Yeah, it won't look good for Mcelhinney.

I would be pretty happy with Tippett as well. I really wonder if he was one of the 3 that Sutter was talking about at his conference. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next two weeks. Sutter said he wanted the coaching staff by the draft and that is at the end of the month.

I personally doubt it. At the time Nieuwendyk was not the GM and there was no real indication Tippet was on his way out. and there wouldnt be much use scouting a coach who is already a head coach, without knowledge he will likely not be in that position much longer, and at the time it would have been a lateral move.

Good point.... I never thought about that. Turco played around the same minutes as Kipper. That said I doubt Sutter would let him basically **** the ebd in managing the goalies as Keenan did last year. Sutter was pretty vocal about that and the goals against being unacceptable. McE will be starting 15 to 20 games imo.

If Niewendyk hires Crawford the smart move would be to fire him right now. Hell, fire both of them.

Now, if the Flames manage to hire Tippet, then hurrah for the stupidity and arrogance of another team's management.
