Simon Hjalmarsson vs Anton Rodin

just wondering if there's a big difference between those 2 at the same age? I'd think Simon Hjalmarsson is more physical

Anton Rödin is a much better player offensivly and Hjalmarsson is the superior player defensivly.

He is quite dominant when he plays against players his own age but he dosent do well against men yet and thats one thing that concerns me. He has the speed and and goals coring touch to be a top six winger in the NHL some day.

Correct, also Hjalmarsson better two way game, Rödin better in the offensive zone.

How is Hjalmarsson doing? He is often forgotten about by Blues fans. He obviously needs to add some weight to survive in the NHL, but I think he has more than enough offensive talent to strive in the NHL.

Rodin is much more skilled, but may have problems in the NHL physically. He should take a while to develop as he really needs to learn to play against men and bulk up.

Hjalmarsson is better defensively and more physical, but i dont see scoring upside for him in the NHL.

If I had a mid round pick and had to choose between the two, i'd take the gamble on Rodin.

When you say "He" in the second paragraph, which one are you referring to?

I've never seen Rodin play but Hjalmarsson had 33 pts in 40 games in the Allsvenskan which IIRC was the 2nd most points of any player under the age of 20 in that league. I'll be interested to see how he does with Rogle in the SEL next season.

by he I mean Rödin this is his stats for the season

GP G A P PIM
Brynäs Junior SuperElit 37 29 26 55 34
Oskarshamn 2tier Men 6 0 0 0 2
Sweden U19 International 8 5 8 13 6

As you can se he didnt do well against men and he need to bulk up first.

Henrik Thegel http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=6564
was much better against men he also has a better size but might be to slow for international play and higher leagues.

I think it's odd that words like superior are tossed around in the thread, Rödin has the better skill set but they have both put up similar points at the same age in J20 SuperElit, both playing on powerhouse teams. Hjalmarsson has proven that he can put up points against men, something Rödin has yet to do.
