28-year old UFA goalie Craig Anderson

The guy has had a save percentage above 0.925 for 3 years running now, and filled in brilliantly for Vokoun when he was injured last year.

My question is, how much does he make on the open market July 1, and who would go after him as a potential starter?

Isles will probably go after him. As for his value, probably 1.5-2 million per year. Number of years: unknown.

I'd like to see the Oil pursue him heavily with guaranteed starting spot from the get-go.

I'd go three years 2 mill if I needed a solid backup for an injury prone goalie (NYI, DAL) or I needed a guy to come in and compete for the starting job. (STL). Probably no more than two million though

How about this. Do you think he's ready for that starter's role?

I think he'll actually get 2.5 mill on a 2 or 3 year deal. There would be enough interest that it could possibly bring up the price.

Good call. I think he probably does end up getting 2.5 mill a year for three years from the Oilers or Blues with the opportunity to step in and compete for the job just because he will receive probably 5 legitimate offers from teams looking for goaltending depth or for a stop gap until a young guy comes up and steps in. But I wouldnt personally go over 2 million for him.

Teams that could consider him would be: Colorado, Dallas, Edmonton, Florida, New York Islanders, St-Louis and Toronto.

I don't think all those teams will make official offers, especially depending on who 'The Monster' decides to sign with, but those teams are all in need of a #1A or #1B (wether it be because of a lack of talent, or injury issues.

Lets discuss the value of 28 year old Craig Anderson instead.

Colorado, St. Louis, or Edmonton will probably be the team that signs him. Not sure what he'll get, but he deserves no more than 2 million a season. 28 years old, never started 30 games in a season, never won 20 games in a season, never played a playoff game. No team can afford to pay him more than 2 million in my opinion.

His saving grace is his high SV%. Will he be able to keep it that high if he's forced to start 50 games next season? I have a feeling we'll find out.

He'll be plan B for Toronto/Colorado/Dallas for the 2 teams that miss out on "the monster" ...and he'll get a heck of alot more intrest, and $$ than some people here are anticipating

Man I would love for the Leafs to sign him. He was great for a while last season after stealing the starting role from Vokoun.

In STL, Mason will be the #1; I think the Blues won't and shouldn't be paying more than 1.5M for any backup, including Anderson who I like. Everyone but Edmonton, Colorado and maybe LA (if they don't want to go with Quick) seems to have a #1. It's a buyer's market.

Anaheim might be trying to move one of Giguere or Hiller, one of Biron or Nittymaki is going to be available, there's Fernandez, Khabibulin, a 40-yo Roloson, and then backups like Anderson, Clemmensen, Conklin, etc. Buyer's market.
