Aaron Ward for the 45th pick is not a bad proposal as far as worth is considered. Ward is a good player and a great leader, I don't know if he is what Atlanta needs though.
The same thing was said about Zhitnik when we picked him up.... Not interested....
Except Zhitnik was traded for, at the time, a top prospect who had just gone top 10 in the draft a few years prior, in Braydon Coburn... Ward will cost a mid-round pick or prospect.
I guess the way I'm really looking at it is Atlanta, for so long, kept picking up older guys towards the end of their careers...I'd rather see some youth in the lineup. I'm just thinking back to a time when our defense consisted of Nic Havelid, Greg DeVries, Alexi Zhitnik, Shane Hnidy and Andy Sutton.
Value-wise I think it's fair, but I agree -- it's not the direction I want the Thrashers to go.
Right. I was speaking more along the lines of value.
We need a defensive D-man, but I'm not sure we should take an older guy. I'd rather get someone who has some wheels and can get back quickly to prevent a breakaway or odd-man rush.
