to MTL- Gomez
to NYR- Lang

i know most ranger fans would be ok with this as the rangers could probably just bury Lang in Hartford or try to arrange some sort of KHL transfer, but how would Hab fans take to the idea of 5 years of Gomez at 7plus mil?

I'm confused.

The Habs wouldn't want Gomez's contract, I don't think. It's true they are looking for a #1 center, but Gomez makes too much and lacks the size element the Habs are looking for.

What confuses me is the idea of the Rangers getting Lang -- to bury him in Hartford?

Lang has been great for the Habs, so I'm not sure what the motivation would be to send him to the AHL or KHL -- and he is UFA July 1st, so I'm not sure what motivates either team to include him in this trade.

Are you under the impression that Lang is some sort of albatross for Montreal?

This thread is pathetic.

And Lang is a UFA.

didn't realize Lang was a ufa....major fail on my part.

not implying that he doesn't have anything left, i just don't see him fitting into the rangers uptempo system and was thinking about the "gentleman's agreement" that the rangers have with omsk.

I'd rather resign lang for one year at 5 mill a pop then trade his rights for Gomez.

Why not just sign Lang for 1/2 years at 4M? He could likely out up 50/60 points to Gomez's 60/70 at a cheaper, shorter cap hit.

so basically youre saying that instead of montreal resigning lang cheaper (and has proven he's very good in their system) they should commit major to a guy who may not fit?

I have been saying all season long that if the Rangers can move Gomez this summer, Lang would make a wonderful one year stop gap. He could be a relatively cheap UFA on a one-year deal that would be just as good as Gomez, if not better.

yepp, even if lang wasn't a UFA, this is still a no go.
no way the Habs take on the Gomez contract. I for one hope the Habs re-sign Lang. I think he played great right up until he was injured and if he could do that for a full season he could be the size up the middle we really need.
