i doubt it. As long as Bettman and Sidney are butt bodies nothing will change... actually i feel like this only the beginning, Sidney and the Pens will have a free ride thru the play offs for years to come...

Not here to gloat or pick battles, but I'm curious to know why not even one Caps fan has had anything good to say about Gonchar winning the Cup. More people in here are bemoaning Hossa not winning as a former Cap winning it.

Oh, I'm sure there'll be some who will point to his deficiencies during his Caps years, but surely his tenure provided far more good memories than bad ...

I'm very glad Gonchar got a cup, but the fact that the Pens won overpowers any happiness I have for him.

What jersey does he pull on before every game?

There you go.

Well, I remember when Gonchar was drafted as I'm a long time draftnik (don't think that is a good thing). He essentially bailed during the rebuild so he was traded so really I don't even think of him as a capital at this point. I will give him props for improving his dgame as he is clearly better than when he was with the caps. At that time he made green seem like a norris contender all things considered, IMO.

+1

Pens' fans coming onto other teams' forums to gloat and seek accolades. Priceless.

I liked Gonch when he was a Cap.

I feel the same way about Larry Murphy winning a cup once he left town.

Indifferent.

Gonchar was a bum. He plays for the enemy. If he put half as much effort into play in his own end as he does now, maybe we wouldn't have sucked so much when he was here.

Don't think I believe I said Guerin = Cup. All I said was, "what if...."
He provided veteran leadership, offensive traffic upfront. Yes and more offense...to say the least, not one person can tell me they were satisfied with our forwards pussing away from the net. Would I have liked to see better defense, sure...without a doubt.

Is Gonchar great defensively? Not so much, but I do think he's one of those guys who thrives on the style of play that is offensive overload minded i.e. Pens, Caps...

Personally I think we could have used a guy like him. Especially on the PP with that booming slapshot from the point. And it would have allowed Ovy to move to the sideboards/slot area.

According to the Hamilton Spectator, the Canadiens informed Bulldogs' head coach Don Lever and assistant Ron Wilson that their contracts would not be renewed for next season. The report indicates the two were told over the phone without reason last week.

It's been blown out of proportion. Just like it is with Green. Just like it was with Murphy, etc.

Yep.

The whooping for Green should start any day now.

It may have started in Game 7. I heard a few of them while Green was out there and Gonchar wasn't, but it was briefly and only once so it may not have been what I thought it was.

He wasn't good against the Pens, that's for sure.

But he was injured and sick.

His defense improved dramatically this year.

Unless he goes out and ***** the bed next year, he's fine.
