Briere put up 25 points in 29 games last year, that includes two games he did not complete, a few games he played while being injured, and 10 games playing with Cote and Asham. I would say still putting up a .86 point pace under those circumstances is pretty impressive.

If he's healthy next year, plays with Gagne and Giroux, and gets first line power play time, he will score close to 100 points.

Sounds like teams are going to more cautions with their money this off season as Gainey once offered Briere that kind of money

Not to mention, he has a NTC....Hartnell is sticking around.

Some team will take on Briere....but the return won't be as much as the Flyers would like.

I've gotta disagree with you there buddy.....100 points is more than anyone else on the team has gotten in a while....

Just saying..I wouldn't count on that.

Yep, that would mean that Leiweke is far too involved again.

I don't think it happens. There are plenty of good hockey deals out there to be made. I wouldn't mind Briere if he had about 3 years left on a $5M a year deal, but length of contract and cap hit are a big deal these days, as Ranger and Flyer fans are finding out.

That's probably a reach, but I think 90 is reasonable. He's our most offensively gifted player, and that's saying a lot when you look at the players around him. I believe a Gagne-Briere-Giroux line can be one of the best in the league.

Last time I checked, the PG part of PPG means per game. As in per game played. Briere is a PPG player since the lockout, by defintion.

Looking at the numbers from capgeek.com (assuming that is accurate) and not the ones I manually miscalculated, it looks less desirable.

The CAP hit:

2013-2014: $4,333,333
2014-2015: $5,333,333
2015-2016: $833,333
2016-2017: $833,333

Buyout amount:

$833,333
That is correct...I actually posted this on the Kings board a week ago....I guess you missed it.

I think that if the Flyers can't get fair value for him...keep him. If he playys with Gagne and giroux and is off to a great start...value goes up. Holmgrem should give up the J-Bo dream and make hockey deals that are cap-focused and make sense hockey wise. Deals like Lupul for Harding lowers Cap hit and addresses getting 2nd goalie. This is an offseason that we need to not get any UFA's and let some younger players play(Nodl, Powe, Ross) Then see how the season is playing out and adjust from there.

Lupul+ for Harding and Jones for nothing would be a great start to the offseason. I'd re-sign Knuble for a reasonable rate and sign a good 2nd pairing defenseman. The team would look slightly better at a lower cap hit.

No, I didn't say that. Lets call a spade a spade here. He's a good offensive player, but certainly not a PPG player. His cap number and his injury history make him very difficult to trade.

I don't think it's a stretch to call a guy who has scored 250 points in 237 regular season games since the lockout a PPG player.

How effective would it be considering Gagne would be the biggest guy line that line?

Powe-Giroux-Briere was pretty effective the last 10-15 games of the season. I doubt that putting Simon Gagne at LW in place of Darroll Powe would hurt the chemistry that much.

Me too. I'd do Briere and our 1st for one of Handzus/Stoll and LA's 1st, but who knows if it's BS or not?

everyone knew when Briere got signed in Philly it was a ridiculous contract. I think every contract that summer was ridiculous.

Penner
Briere
Gomez Drury

People said the Cory Sairch signing was bad 5 years 3.6 mil. I'll take Sarich for that price over any of the above 4 contracts. Sarich was great last year
