1998 NHL Entry Draft Re-Do (#9)

It's now time to move onto Poll #9, Alex Tanguay won the last poll, a big thank you to everyone for voting in Poll #8.

I added Mikael Samuelsson to this poll, continue to tell me who to add.

Pretty big gap between 8 and 9. I guess I'm going to vote for Ribeiro here, but Gionta, Cole, and Spacek are all close.

if we're redrafting for 1998, then we have to take into account how much these guys did for their teams in the last ten years, not just the last couple of years. that's why i can't believe gagne went before brad richards. gagne has put together some very good years, but what richards did in his first six years in the league easily trumps gagne's contributions, even though gagne is the better player now and might be for the rest of their careers. really, what these guys do for the rest of their careers is beside the point, as they've all his UFA age.

on that note, while beauchemin may be the most valuable player now and maybe in the future, there's a few guys i'd take before him. it was hard to pick between them, but i took jaro spacek.

Agreed. I think Richards has a better case to be put over Markov than Gagne does to be put over Richards.

Also, I'm not even sure Gagne is better now, when you factor in the fact that he's injured more often than not.
