Otherwise, if Tomas Plekanec, Max Lapierre, and Glen Metropolit are our top 3 centres entering the season, we're screwed. But let's hope things don't get that desperate, hey?
He's got a NMC i think.

We have plenty of SCap available and at 5.6M he is a good deal.

Same cost applies with the Flyers... And they paid the most money at the beginning of the contract (10M + 8M).
So it would be their lost.
It would be admitting an error and he might as well resign as a GM.

Personnally, I would like Gagne but he is by far their best left winger.

If Flyers have to get rid of a contract it could be Carter or Richards. They could also ask for more in exchange.
it doesn't matter his paycheck. it's the salary cap. I don't think montreal minds paying more but having a smaller cap hit. The other is just unproductive in terms of putting a good team on the ice.

Sure, but right now Briere is the better player, and he's outproduced Koivu for a couple of years now.

The only way I trade for him is if they take metro(as we could use chipchura or give a young player a chance) and give us hmm, JVR and we'll throw a bunch of nonsense at them back. That's about it.

Seems like the Flyers called Bob, Bob said no way José..
If true, that many teams not having interesting in same player they once offered big contract too...suggest to me teams will be alot more cost efficent now than they were 1-2-3 years ago

Good. No more soft players. And no more soft players with albatross contracts.

To all Flyers fans out there:

There's no way that Gainey will take an expensive, aging center that didn't want to play in MTL when he had the choice. Period . Most of us would jump off the Jacques-Cartier bridge if Briere was traded here.

Briere isn't a player the Habs need for them to advance. Aim higher and better, Gainey.

Oh there is a way if the habs can somehow work out a deal to have Giroux sent along with him!

Except that the hooker is actually willing to get her nose dirty to really get in on the play...

All right then, we can help them unload Briere off their books, but we'll take Claude Giroux with that, since Briere has negative value... Oh... yes, we sort have to send something back for the form of it. Metropolit?

Who said we didn't Briere after all
