Send Jones to the minors for a year, Trade Lupul and whatever to the Wild for Harding, trade Carle to anyone interested for a low pick and an AHL player or decent prospect. Move Briere next offseason, replace him with Giroux, and fill Giroux's spot with JVR.

Im going to have to pass on Harding. And highly doubt Malhotra is obtainable at such a low price. Knuble will get a raise as well..if not from us, from somebody else.

The second grouping is not all that different from what we finished the season with. The first grouping is an attempt at making 2 scary lines instead of 3 very good lines.

Did I say that's what I want? I said that is what I expect will happen because we also have ZERO cap space and will be easily outbid for a lot of players.

Here here. I'm a huge supporter of getting Beauchemin.

I love Gags, but i dont think he will be in philly for a long time. If we cant figure something out with the Briere situation, I could see him moved

I dont know, I mean we did go to the conference finals the year before with a worse team than last year. The only difference is that we had our two best players having dislocated shoulders and their goalie played unreal. Then you look at the Caps, who i think we could have beat, and the canes, we would have beat. Not saying we could have beat the wings but they looked tired, were without their MVP for the first 4 games.

Yea we lost in the first round, but it kind of changes when you lose to the stanley cup champ...

The second grouping has three 'rookies' on the same line. On the road, when the opposition has last change, that line would completely outmatched more often than not.

The Flyers were a regular season Game 82 loss away from a first round exit last season, as well. This year, the Flyers dropped the ball in Game 82 and had to open the playoffs on the road.

Nothing changes when you lose to the Cup champs. Success is measured by the number of Cup banners hanging from your rafters, not franchise winning percentage or trips to the Conference/Stanley Cup Finals.

No it doesn't:
Gagne-Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Lupul
JVR-Giroux-Powe
Carcillo-Ross-Asham

I bolded the one rookie in the entire lineup. Compare that to our line up this past season down the stretch and into the playoffs.
1st line: replaced Knuble with Briere. Upgrade.
2nd line: identical
3rd line: replaced Briere with JVR. Downgrade, although the line is no longer 3 midgets.
4th Line: never really had a consistent center down the stretch but Carcillo and Asham were there from the trade deadline and into the playoffs.

Well above all, we need a new coach. Still think he'd do fine here.

it doesnt matter who the coach is; some team will load up on big players at the deadline again and this will become the formula for success.

The point was they're just kids... hence 'rookies.' That line is not what I want to see on a team that's supposed to be challenging for a Stanley Cup; on the road, that line would be exploited by opposition coaches.

My bet is that the Flyers will either spread the wealth and have three attacking forward units, as they had in the playoffs, or load up two lines and have a traditional checking line as unit three.

Malhotra scored 35 points last year, a career high. I guess he could get a little more than 1.75M but I would doubt it would be significantly more.

As for Knuble, I'm not how much of a raise he would get from someone else, and whether or not it would be worth moving in this late stage of his career. If someone offers him 3M for 2 years and we offer 2.5M, I'm not sure he'd leave for 1M. So even if you bump up Knuble's and Malhotra's cap hits by say 250-500K a piece we're still in a better cap position than we are now.

i wouldnt want him...my 3rd line is created to be a "shut-down" line

Moore was asking for about $3m and thats why TO traded him...he's not worth that at all

did you tell me this before? i can't remember, i wouldn't mind moore as a third line center but not for $3m. that's a little crazy. will he really get that? reading that kings deal thread i'm really liking the idea of jarret stoll.

I like this with minor differences Asham to 4th line, Cote out (do not see a need for Cote because Carcille and Asham will drop them), Carcillo to 3rd line, I do not know who Moan is.

I would look into Mike Grier type (one year deal) of player on that 3rd line RW and I also wondering for those who watched Columbus last year (I watched only a few games and I think Peca was suspended). Anyway, is Pahlsson better then Peca right now?
It would be nice to have Peca and Grier together and if JVR is ready to come and play a few games this 3rd line is perfect.

I love this D this is exactly how I picture it with just few changes in parings.
Gagne-Mike Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Giroux
JVR-Peca-Grier
Carcillo-Powe-Asham

Timonen-Coburn
Parent-Bouwmeester
