When Phaneuf played good in past seasons - he's great defenceman, true #1, the next big defenceman, great talent... When he has season-off this year - Phaneuf is overrated, mediocre defenceman who can't play defenceman, bust and etc...

Weber will be the same story if he played bad next season. So, #5 place for Shea is questionable. Yet, guys like Markov, Gonchar and Timonen is better. But this is HF.

I agree, markov, gonchar, and timonen, should occupy the 4-6 spots at worst.

At least Green is better than Weber, though.

Voted Markov (Gonchar and then Keith would be next for me, then Green).

Add Paul Martin.
Even as a Nashville fan I have to agree with this. If I was starting a 1-year team from scratch I would take Markov, Gonchar, Keith, and Timonen all over Weber and Green. Weber and Green are specialists that go good with an already sound defense, not players you want to build around IMO.

Voted Keith.
Yup, Weber played like an elite dman for 1/2 of a season in his entire career, and now apparently is the 5th best in the league.

If Gonchar had two knees the last two rounds of this years playoffs this spot would belong to him.
