Jason Blake

Possible to get rid of him? Does he have ANY positive trade value or would the Leafs have to package something along with him to get rid of him?

Possibly receive a 2nd or 3rd round pick or decent prospect?

Have to give up a propsect (maybe Williams or Orescovich?)?

He's probably worth more to the Leafs then he is to 'dump'.

He rebounded quite well last season (25g, 63pts) and at this point his salary is not an issue. I wouldn't hesitate to move him but I wouldn't be looking to move him with extra incentive from the Leafs side.

Maybe a mid round pick from a team that can't lure a big-time UFA and won't spend to the cap limit?

Hard to think of too many matches for that though ... maybe Nashville.

His cap hit is 4M but his actual salary over the next 3 years averages 3.5M.

If the Leafs can deal him and put the cap savings towards Cammalleri that would be ideal.

Mid round pick for a playoff push? Other than that, late rounder.

Isles 1st overall for Blake and Kaberle.

Sorry, someone was going to so I just offered up a preemptive brainfart to ensure it isn't posted seriously.....resume.

He's worth more to the Leafs than anyone else at this point.

His value will peak at the trade deadline. After this year his salary is 3mil but his cap hit is 4mil. For the teams wanting to stay at the cap floor, this would be a huge value to them. At the deadline maybe a second rounder and a middle of the road prospect, or another lower pick.

He would have value only in the last year of his contract. As for now he has negative value.

I'd give him 1 to 1.5 M for 2 years. Jason Blake is a third line star at best right now... Todays economy and cap numbers don't let him get more.

Coming from someone who obviously has never watched him and only believes what they read.

Jason Blake right now is an asset to the Leafs, other teams might not offer anything to get him from the Leafs, but we're in no hurry to get rid of him. His work ethic is good for our young locker room, and we're in no hurry for cap space.
