He's probably worth more to the Leafs then he is to 'dump'.
He rebounded quite well last season (25g, 63pts) and at this point his salary is not an issue. I wouldn't hesitate to move him but I wouldn't be looking to move him with extra incentive from the Leafs side.
Possible to get rid of him? Does he have ANY positive trade value or would the Leafs have to package something along with him to get rid of him?
Possibly receive a 2nd or 3rd round pick or decent prospect?
Have to give up a propsect (maybe Williams or Orescovich?)?
His value will peak at the trade deadline. After this year his salary is 3mil but his cap hit is 4mil. For the teams wanting to stay at the cap floor, this would be a huge value to them. At the deadline maybe a second rounder and a middle of the road prospect, or another lower pick.
I'd give him 1M for 2 years. Jason Blake is a third line star at best right now...
Coming from someone who obviously has never watched him and only believes what they read.
Jason Blake right now is an asset to the Leafs, other teams might not offer anything to get him from the Leafs, but we're in no hurry to get rid of him. His work ethic is good for our young locker room, and we're in no hurry for cap space.
