What teams are going to be looking for a 1st line forward??
I know for sure the Oilers will try as hard as they can to land a Heatley, Hossa, Gaborik type. Then probably, LA, VAN (depending on what happens with the twins), TOR (they are rumored to be after the twins), MTL (they have alot of flexibility)...who else?
The Oilers would be wise to acquire Heatley or Lecavalier and their respective contracts.
Realistically, I doubt the Oilers can sign any big name UFA at market value (ie. Hossa last year, they offered him something like 9 million/year), so their best bet is to trade for one of those players, both of whom signed their contract extensions with their current teams.
Caps need a C and/or RW for the top 6, although not necessarily a first-line caliber player. Probably can't/shouldn't fill both holes from within the organization at this point although I suppose it's not out of the question.
Minnesota definetly need some top players. If Gaborik leaves, they'll be 2 players short of a 1st line. I'm actually surprised they aren't getting any mention specifically now that they've got a new coach and GM.
The Devils don't particularly need a first line guy. Parise and Elias are both pretty clearly 1st line guys, Langenbrunner played like one this year, and Zajac put up borderline 1st points this season too, and will likely only get better. ZZPops is one of the better lines in the league and as long as it keeps firing on all cylinders, the Devils have a pretty reliable first line. What they really need is a 2nd line center, though a 1st-caliber guy to play with Elias (instead of Dainus ****ing Zubrus) would turn us into a 1A/1B kind of team.
Don't know where we'd get the money for a 1st liner though. It would almost definitely cost us any kind of upgrade on D.
