Ohlund will probably be a Flyer if/when JayBo heads to Canada.

Heatley to Florida for Jay-Bo?

Boiumeester isn't just an offensive dman, he's big, physical, plays against the other teams top line and he logs almost 30 mins a game. The man is a stud from the word GO. He'd be our #1 offensive and defnsive dman, no question about it. He'd be the dman we'd roll out againt the bigger more physcal forwards of the league like Malkin and Ovechkin. Timonen can handle Crosb but Malkin and Ovechkin are just too big and strong for Timonen to handle. J-Bo wouldn't have that problem. He has the skill AND size to play against anyone in this league. He's easily one of the top 5 dmen in the league.

He's potentially leaving a good chunk of change on the table, but that's a LOT of guaranteed money to pass up.

I'd be much more interested in Ohlund or Beauchemin depending on their salary demands personally.

Veteran guys who can give us a few good years before the young'uns are ready.

Forgive me if this is dumb and just wishful thinking

To Florida:
Rights to Biron
Briere
Conditional 1st 2010 (if JBo signs)

To Philadelphia:
Rights to JBo
Craig Anderson

Reasoning: Briere might waive his NTC if he gets to go with his best buddy. Flyers get a good cheap goalie to fight for the number 1 spot. Florida gets a PPG player, a first in what seems to be a fairly deep draft, and a good goalie to challenge vokoun for their number one spot or a very capable backup.

Would Briere waive his NTC to go to the hockey mecca of Florida? lol

How about the Habs bail you guys out and take Briere off your hands with a little sweetner added in JVR.

In return we will give you Halak + Weber + Metropolit and Youppi

I would argue that even Pitt had question marks going into the start of last season...losing Hossa and a crazy amount of their grit in Ruutu, Malone, Armstrong, Roberts, and Laraque.

By the time we were half way through the season Detroit earned their question marks as well. Osgood blew and goals were flying in their net.

Damn, people aren't losing their **** over this guy just because he's offensively inclined.

I'm curious as to how much it's going to cost to get Ohlund, he has the kind of game fans round here would blow orange loads for.

I'm also surprised that more people haven't thrown around Komisarek's name in here. There's a guy just dying to get overpaid.

Komisarek is one of my favorite defensemen in the league today (USA! USA!) but he wont be cheap... I'd love for him to be a Flyer though

Off the top of my head I can't recall how many more years Vokoun has in his deal but, they do have Markstrom waiting in the wings as their number 1 for the future.

With that in mind, Biron probably doesn't work a contract out there and Briere becomes unwilling to waive his NTC, if thats what it would even take to convince him.

The Oilers need a top end forward more than Bouwmeester. I think ideally they would rather try for Heatley, Lecavalier, or Hossa, but if they can't get land one of them then they may turn to Bouwmeester since their new owner seems desperate to make a splash.

Seeing as they already have cap room, and Souray has requested a trade...the Oilers have the money and roster spots to accommodate a top end forward and JBo...if he chooses them. I wouldn't be surprised if Souray and one of the kids (plus a pick?) were traded to Ottawa for Heatley. There were also rumours of Jagr returning to the league and possibly being Edmonton bound.

Don't be surprised to see the Oilers very active this summer. With both Quinn and Renney behind the bench, they should be taken a little more seriously.

The Souray thing was false as far as I know, but you are right they probably would deal him or one of the other big money defenseman for one of the forwards. It didn't cross my mind. It might be a tight fit. They still need to sign Grebeshkov and a goalie, but it is doable for them.

What would Youppi cost on his own? Actually I'd rather have the Bonhomme, what's he worth?

2 months ago I started a thread about trading Gagne while he still has value. I was flamed and the thread was closed. Now, it seems chic to talk about trading Gagne.

I guess the cows are coming home.

Who wants to trade Gagne? Other then a few here (who most of the time wanted to trade him) most of us want Gags here still.

Could anyone here see Gagne signing for a cheaper deal just to stay here and still keep him and get Bouwmeester? Everyone knows Gags loves it in Philly. I could honestly see him signing for a cheap deal to stay here, get J-Bo, and own.

I ran the numbers, and getting J-Bo just cant happen. We would have to loose to many quality players. I will show my reasoning.

To Philadelphia:
Rights to J-Bo
Kamil Kreps (.6825 for one more year)

To Florida:
Carle
Denis Bodrov
3rd '09
Conditional 1st '10 if J-Bo signs with Philadelphia

J-Bo signs for 68 million over ten years
Sign Y.Perreault 1 year at .75
Resign Alberts one year at 1.25
Waiver sheet or trade for Harding, we should attract J-Bo with Lupul (They both played together)

09-10 Roster

Gagne - Briere - Giroux[12.571]
Hartnell - Richards - Lupul [14.2]
Powe - Carter - Kreps [6.2075]
Carcillo - Y. Perreault - Asham [2.28375]

Timonen - Bouwmeester [ 13.13]
Coburn - Parent [2.155]
Sbisa- Alberts [2.125]

Emery [3.00]
Harding

Total; 55.67225

This would be our best year for the cup

10-11

Trade Lupul
Resign Powe for 1 million
Resign Kreps for 1.2 million
Resign Asham for .75 million
Resign Coburn for 3 million
Resign Parent for 1.3 million
Resign one of Harding or Emery for 3 million
Sign back up goalie

Gagne- Briere - Giroux [12.571]
Hartnell - Richards - Nodl [10.825]
Powe- Carter- Kreps [7.2]
Kalinski - Matsumoto - Asham [2.225]

Timonen - J-Bo [13.13]
Coburn - Parent [4.3]
Sbisa - Marshall [1.75]

Emery or Harding for 3 million
Teslak or Backlund for .750

Total 55.675 If the cap goes down a lot as reported we may also have to move Gagne and bring JVR up. New cap hit would then be 52.925, still may be too high

As you can see, it would cause major problems to our cap. The next season Carter, Giroux, Sbisa, Matsumoto, and maybe Marshall would have to be resigned. At this point Briere would have to be moved and Maroon would probably have to play.

If the cap goes up towards 60 million (Unlikely) we can still keep Briere and have a great group of forwards

The best option would probably be to go after Ohlund, it allows us to keep a better forward group.

Bouwmeester is tempting, but getting his is just not plausible. Maybe we could try a long 15 year deal with a cap of 4.5.

You're a genius at crunching number, but for a second there I thought I saw you put Carter as the center on our 3rd line...over the next 2 years.

Oh wait...
