But seriously, it's the day of the awards show. Of course there are going to be discussions like this. I sympathize the sentiment though.

I'm for more Nylander threads! Or maybe one global Nylander thread entitled, "The all Nylander, all the time thread." Think of the possibilities !

Trouble is, it's not an awards show discussion, but a rehash of the Green is awesome/Green wouldn't know the blueline if he tripped over it fracas.

Well the discussion was initially about the reaction a Green victory would elicit (started by CapsWolverine.) I guess that my post did steer the thread in the direction you stated, and for that I'm sorry, but I've had enough of the 4th forward/'Mike Green sucks defensively' hogwash. I'll be more cognizant about shifting the discussion in that manner in the future. Sorry.

Nah, it sort of naturally gravitates in that direction. No worries.

As for the award itself, I have no idea how to handicap it. I tend to think it's Chara, followed closely by Green, with Lidstrom third. Were Green to win, though, I would not be shocked. There was a significant wave of support for him as the season ended, and he ended strong.

That's the exact order that I predict it'll finish, but I'd LOVE to read the posts on the main board if Green wins (especially from Wings fans.)

Chara had a terrible second half, whereas Lidstrom was on fire down the stretch. I think that's going to tip it towards Lidstrom in terms of winning it.

He was bad for a stretch (which not surprisingly coincided with the teams struggles), but he righted himself down the stretch. I also think that first impressions can be lasting ones, so his uber strong first half may have been enough to secure him the trophy.

I wasn't saying that he doesn't. I was just pointing out the prevailing mentality/stereotype that will lose him some votes.

I hope he wins it just so HF implodes.

And he was named to the NHL first team all star, along with; Chara, Ovechkin, Iginla, Malkin, Thomas.
