A nice consolation prize...

It was nice to see that even if DD was not nominated for the Calder that he still made the All Rookie team

Just for clarification - I believe that every rookie is "nominated" for the Calder, but only the top 3 vote getters are announced before the ceremony.

Versteeg was good when healthy. I still think Doughty or Rinne was more deserving of a nomination though.

Ryan and Mason were the class of the field though.

See Above....the NHL lists the top 3 finalists....there are no nominations.

FWIW, in his intro, Luc referred to the three as the nominees...

But it's all symantics.

While it is cool that Doughty was on the all rookie team...do not forget that Storr has accomplished that feat as well.

Storr played pretty good early on. He was way better than Fisuck. I remember having lots of hope for him. Not unusual for a goalie to have an unfulfilling career.

For those who think that this is the first time that the Kings have tried to build through the draft, take a look at the All-Rookie team for 1987. The Kings had 3 of the 6 1st team players...

Right. And they did NOTHING in the next season to dramatically change that strategy.
