Canucks - Sharks

Lets try once more...

To Canucks:
Patrick Marleau 6,300 (2010 UFA)<- if he waive his NTC

To Sharks:
Mason Raymond 0,833 (2010 RFA)
1st round pick (22nd overall)

Please be gentle...

At Marleau's salary I would rather re-sign Henrik Sedin and his brother (for say 5.5M each), which would be impossible if we traded for Marleau.

I think canucks fans are putting a little too much into how good they think Raymod is

gotte be one of the silliest trades I heav seen in awhile. Patty M got 38goals to Mason's 11.

This is not a serious trade offer.

Using the "patty m'sm contract" and thiink the sharks willm just give him away is asking to get get flamed

Sharks could get a lot more than that.

Ya Mason Raymond is not a good player. Canuck fans need to start accepting this.

why do we need to accept that a 23 YO player that has shown tremendous signs in his development, playing his best hockey of his career so far in the playoffs, is not going to develop any further than the player he is right now??

he might not have much value on the trade market, but you've got to be pretty new to hockey to assume that a player at that age, who's shown the talent that he has, is not going to develop any further at all.

He was one of the Canucks better players in his first playoffs ever. Writing him off now would be insane!

of course he (and a 1st rounder) is not going to bring back Marleau ... but thinking his value is equal to Bell (UFA) and Auld is just as ridiculous.

Marleau is now a rental player - an expensive rental player. That's a reasonable deal for both sides.

Luongo is also a rental this year. How about a straight up trade of one year of Luongo for one year of Marleau?

He's only a rental if there's no chance of him re-signing at the end of the contract.

I'd say it's more than probable he'll stay in San Jose beyond the end of next season so San Jose won't be 'giving' him away as a rental...

Look at who was feeding Marleau pucks.

I don't want Marleau and his huge salary on the Canucks anyways.

As been said

Luongo is now a rentel as well--so--how about Matt Greene for Luongo?

Who was feeding Marleau pucks when he scored 86 points with Michalek and Bernier?
The fact that Marleau is a product of Thornton is so ridiculous.

Who? Marleau carried this team this season until he got hurt. Don't try to pass off some crap that Thornton made Marleau because it's just plain wrong and shows you don't watch a single Sharks game.

Ah yes, the old "he must be leeching of Joe Thornton" argument. It's completely rubbish and doesn't become true just because people repeat it all the time, but hey, why bother...

It was Patrick Marleau who carried that line for large parts of the season. It's just stupid how people on these boards continue to talk down good players just because they are playing with other good players. Doesn't matter if it's Marleau, one of Ottawa's big line or someone entirely different.

It's perfectly fine not to want a player for one reason or another, but don't come up with reasons that are just bs.

If he's going to be in San Jose "beyond the end of next season", then obviously he isn't going to be available for a trade this summer, San Jose won't be giving him away at all, and this entire thread is pointless.

If contract situation is essentially the same, it needs to be someone as good at their position as Luongo is at his, otherwise there's no point. Marleau arguably qualifies, Greene does not.
