EDM/TOR/ATL-Another failed attempt at a 3-way.

Atlanta Trades

4th overall pick (B. Schenn/E. Kane)
Angelo Esposito
1st rounder in 2010
2nd rounder in '09

for

Ales Hemsky
Pavel Kubina
Mikail Grabofsky

Basically Atlanta sells the future for a shot at keeping Kovalchuk in town...

Edmonton Trades

Ales Hemsky
Ethan Moreau
Gilbert Brule
10th overall pick (Kassian)

for

4th overall pick (B. Schenn/E. Kane)
7th overall pick (MSP)
Jamal Mayers
Chad Rau

Edmonton gives up the best player but moves up, gets another top ten pick, and gets bigger and grittier...clearing some salary out in the process.

Toronto trades

Pavel Kubina
Mikail Grabofsky
Jamal Mayers
Chad Rau
7th Overall pick (MSP)

for

10th overall pick (Kassian)
Atlanta's 2nd rounder in '09
Atlanta's 1st rounder in 2010
Ethan Moreau
Angelo Esposito
Gilbert Brule

Toronto gets a mixed bag of crap...some picks and reclamation projects...and clears a bit of salary.

My Brain hurts.

I could never see Edmonton making a deal like that. Trading away one of the best contracts in the league and far and away the best player on the team is no way to build a successful hockey club.

Tough to give up Pascal Brule. He has way too high a ceiling (as do most imaginary players).

haha...gilbert brule? clearly this would never happen...and edmonton ought to be getting more....

and yes, there is really no need for toronto to be in there at all.

Im actually an Edmonton fan...and have resigned myself to the fact that Kovalchuk will never end up in Edmonton....so I might as well pretend to send Hemsky to Atlanta....

....I might be retarded.

or just pretending to be?
How pathetic would Edmontons first line be if we traded our only true first line player

At first I thought Toronto got robbed, but after a closer look, this is how I'd break it down.

Pavel Kubina < Atlanta's 1st rounder in 2010

Kubina should get a late first rounder, but this one is a year in advance (reducing the value), but ATL shoud still pick high. Edge to TOR.

Mikail Grabovski > Atlanta's 2nd rounder in '09

We basically payed 2 second rounders for Grabs and hes only increased his value since.

Jamal Mayers =(?) Ethan Moreau

Don't know much about Moreau, correct me if I'm wrong I'll just say he matches up with Mayers.

Chad Rau < Gilbert Brule

Low end prospect, vs 1st round bust.

7th Overall pick (MSP) = 10th overall pick (Kassian) + Angelo Esposito

Basically I'd see this as the price to move up those 3 spots.

If we could keep the 10th overall, I'd do that deal. 3 top 10 picks in an extremely deep draft??? That's how a team could set themselves up BIG time.

Am I the only one immature enough to find the title entertaining?

If we ever did this, I think there are better prospects on the board at #10 than Kassian.

Absolutely not. I laughed at work. Then I showed it to my immediate superior and she laughed too.

Toronto makes out like bandits while giving up the least

the fact that the OP says his brain hurt doing it tells me a lot.

The trade hurts the oilers--being an oiler fan--I wont give my opinion on how good hemsky is--his contract is good and while the oilers get good picks---the problem is that they wont have anyone to take Hensky spot at what he makes and so that makes a large hole in the oilers line up
