Sounds like a U2 song.

I have to admit the first time I read the thread title I read it as Alistair Giguere.

The last time Giguere was supposedly beaten out by a younger back-up he came back with a year that should've netted him a Vezina nom, which was also the year he probably should've won the Conn Smythe on top of winning the cup. While I'd definitely consider trading him because Hiller is more than capable and keeping Pronger is more important, keeping him around isn't bad one bit.

I don't think there are many teams out there that are going to take a risk on him returning to form. If he doesn't, the team that trades for him is screwed.

I think the Ducks get to keep him for two more seasons to see if his pads can generate another all-star season.

Anaheim will be much better served dealing Hiller, with his cheap cap hit and coming off an excellent late season run and playoffs. Sell high, remember.

I fully expect Giguere to bounce back and have a monster season. He doesn't seem like someone who enjoys "losing his spot" so you just know he's going to start camp pissed off - which is when he plays his best.

guy has 1 avg season and he's automatically trash? He'll bounce back. Not worth 6M for sure but still, he's not suddenly terrible.. or is he? ;p We'll see.

i think JSG will get the ducks a decent return for a quality top 6 forward.

Why would the Kings want another goalie? They have 2 decent ones and one that they've been waiting on in Bernier. This trade doesn't fill any type of requirements they have and they have no need to give away Frolov for it. Think a little more about it.

True, I was looking at it one-sided. Right value wrong team.

Maybe just sign Koivu on July 1st to take care of it.

There isn't a huge market for goalies to begin with. Couple that with Giguere's contract and his play last season and you're looking at a 3rd round pick max.

Saku almost def signs in Minny,
i think he has expressed and interest in playing with his brother again.

The Avs could look at JSG. Maybe Svatos and a pick next year and this year later rounds.

No he won't. Besides guys like Brodeur, Lundqvist, Price, Mason, etc., no goalie will return a top six forward, especially if they have a $6M contract and are coming off a bad season.

i stopped reading your post after this

in no way in hell does price hold any type of anything near Marty n Hank.
let alone Mason.
Both good young goaltenders, but neither are at all worth more to another team than they are to the one they are on.
Montreal will never get full value right now for Price due to his piss poor end to last year.
and Mason (assuming its Steve, cuz ill even think less of your post if you meant Chris) will again get nothing towards full value for what he brings Colombus (playoff experience, somehting Leclaire doesnt n wont have for atleast one more season)

Same with Turco and now he not even ranked in the 10-15 here on HF.

I know these are normally tough shots to save, but it's even worse for Giguere with his narrow butterfly and average lateral movement.
If that were so easy, there would be no butterfly goalies left.

It reminds me of a time when a guy criticized DP when he was at the top of the game (not mr. brittle bones). Said something like, "if you one-time a cross-ice pass at the circles, it beats him every time."

If this is true, I'd say the D had a pretty bad game.

As for Giggy, I'd have the Isles give up #37 for him. It'll fit with my plan of making the '11 playoffs. But with his son's eye condition and his NMC, it's unlikely to be waived. So it's moot.

(cowers and waits for isles fans screaming about "mortgaging the future" giving up a 2nd round pick <whoa!> and that it's an irresoponsible use of wangbucks, also duck's fans saying that that's not enough value)

Cheers,

Dan-o
